Program description: This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in malaria, HIV and other diseases. It is in this mandate that the program has a vacancy in Base Transport
POSITION: Truck Driver MR 7 JOB GROUP K
LOCATION: KEMRI/CDC PROGRAM, KISUMU.
Reporting to: Transport Supervisor
Essential Requirement
- Minimum “O” level Secondary school certificate
- Valid Kenyan Commercial driving license, Class A, B, C, E.
- Minimum of five years accident-free driving experience.
- Knowledge of Kenyan traffic law, Certificate of good conduct.
Job summary: The incumbent will work under direct supervision of Transport supervisor. He will report to KEMRI/CDC Dispatcher on technical matters related to use of vehicle, fueling and service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive the truck on official duties.
- Maintain journey logs.
- Maintain cleanliness of truck and accessories.
- Prepare monthly vehicle work tickets logs.
- Keep record of and comply with regular service schedule of the Truck
- Organize and make necessary repair orders for the truck and its accessories.
- Maintain inventory and ensure safe custody of accessories at all times.
- Load supplies for field trips and file copies of packing list.
- Set up accessories (including tents, chairs, audio visual equipment etc) at service delivery points.
- Perform any other project related duties assigned by supervisor or his supervisors.
Terms of Employment: A six (6)1 year, renewable contract as per KEMRI scheme of service. Probation period for the first 3 months. Salary negotiable within grade and allowance depending on education, experience and demonstrated competence.
