  1. Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Administrative Assistant and overall supervision of the Senior Admin/Finance Officer, the incumbent performs the following functions:

  1. Drives staff members and official visitors;

  1. Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities;

  1. Collects and delivers mail or documents when required;

  1. Use his own initiative through security awareness of the operational area to avoid attacks on passengers;

  1. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;

            Knowledge and Skills: Primary Education with Valid Driving licence Class B, C, E. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs. ‘O’ level Certificate will be an added advantage.

            Experience: At least five years of previous Job Experience. Knowledge of driving 4-wheel drive vehicles and trucks is essential.

            Language: Good knowledge of English and Kiswahili.

International Centre for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) - Kenya of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Medical Services to strengthen HIV Care and Treatment services at provincial and district health facilities. This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC).

JOB TITLE: Prevention Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs

LOCATION: Central Province

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Prevention Coordinator will be a key member of the ICAP, Kenya in-country technical staff and will be responsible for the coordination of the Prevention with Positives study and the implementation of prevention activities in Comprehensive Care Clinics at ICAP-supported health facilities in Central Province. The prevention activities targeted at HIV-infected persons enrolled in the Comprehensive Care Clinics include prevention of HIV-re-infection, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), unplanned pregnancies, water borne illnesses and malaria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Prevention with Positives initiative.

  • To work with the National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP) to develop Prevention with Positives material and dissemination strategy

  • To help in training and building the capacity of MOH personnel to better implement prevention aspects of the National Care and Treatment Plan

  • To provide technical assistance to health care facilities to strengthen the incorporation of Prevention with Positives activities in the provision of comprehensive care to HIV-infected individuals enrolled in care.

  • To work with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to develop material and indicators that will better capture prevention interventions and outcomes.

  • To provide technical assistance to ICAP-supported facilities to improve quality of service delivery and develop mechanisms for review of facility performance

  • To assist in planning timely collection of accurate data.

MIMINUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Kenya Registered Nurse/Midwife
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing would be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ experience in public health preferably within a HIV prevention, care and treatment environment
  • Clinical experience including HIV management
  • Experience in mentoring and capacity building of MOH personnel
  • Working knowledge of MOH healthcare systems
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a multidisciplinary team

Searching for a Credit Controller

Job Summary

Our client, a large well known Kenyan manufacturing company seeks to recruit a credit controller to be responsible for effectively managing the company’s credit control policy to minimize overdue trade debtor’s balances, to ensure continued liquidity to meet company obligations and to ensure that all debtors’ accounts are fully reconciled at all times.

Requirements
  • Likely 3 to 5 years experience working in a similar or related position.
  • Likely a university graduate with an accountancy qualification such as CPA or ACCA
  • Ability to regularly follow up all outstanding debts for specific customer accounts with the respective sales staff and report problem accounts to the Group Finance Manager.
  • Send out a status collection update to all sales staff on their performance showing collection target, performance to date and outstanding collection
  • Prepare monthly collection targets for discussion with the Group Finance Manager and ensure targets are sent out by 5th of the following month.
  • To verify facts of all sales returns before passing a credit note. Ensure that all supporting documentations are duly authorized and factual before processing of a credit note. Ensure credit notes are passed and posted on a timely basis to update stock records.
  • To refer customer accounts which prove difficult to collect to authorized debt Collection Agents or the Company’s Advocates (after approval by Group Finance Manager) and to regularly communicate with the Agents or Advocates until such accounts are collected.
  • Maintain records of all customers in a file (invoices, credit notes, remittance slips, copies of withholding VAT and any manner of correspondences with the customer) and ensure that the same is filed system and in order for ease of traceability. Ensure on a daily basis that the accounts copies are received at the end of every day with clear evidence of delivery to the customer to prevent future disputes. Ensure that the accounts copies received follow a serial order and follow up any number missing. Report any anomaly to the Group Finance Manager.
  • Ensure that all documentation necessary during audit is prepared on time and forwarded to the Financial Accountant for inclusion in the audit file.
  • Review set control procedures for continued suitability and recommend any changes to the Group Finance Manager for adoption.
  • Energetic “can do” attitude to work and with ability to motivate co-workers and work long hours.
  • Good communication skills both in verbal presentations and writing. Fully computer literate, word-processing, spreadsheets and e-mail.

Position Description

Applicants should have Higher National Diploma or Ordinary Diploma in Applied Biology or other Biological Sciences form a national polytechnic or from a recognized institution. Should have a minimum of two years post-qualification experience in a busy laboratory. Should be able to work with minimum supervision.

The successful candidate will be expected to supervise laboratory assistants and attendants under him/her, collection and preparation of teaching and research materials; obtaining and designing and development of laboratory; research and teaching activities; participation in research activities in the department; performing any other duties as shall be directed and assigned by the Senior Technician/Chief Technician/ Head of the Department.
