Job Purpose: To translate G&G development concepts into well engineering plans and supervise the execution of these plans. The incumbent will take a lead on all well engineering activities for development projects.

• Knowledge of production, geology and reservoir engineering disciplines is desirable.
• Advanced knowledge of industry best practice associated with drilling, testing, work-over, wire-line and completion operations.
• Experience of well budgeting cost allocation and monitoring. Knowledge of geological and petroleum engineering prorates and well associated requirements.
• Knowledge of well control techniques and advanced casing design.

Malaria Research Analyst
On November 8, 2008, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria approved the launch of an ambitious new initiative to increase access to malaria treatment around the world. Nine countries in Africa and Southeast Asia are participating in Phase 1 of the Affordable Medicines Facility-malaria (AMFm); these countries account for more than one-third of the global malaria burden. The AMFm began operations in June 2009, with orders placed for over 22 million subsidized ACTs and nearly 2 million affordable ACTs in four countries.
The Clinton Foundation Health Access Initiative (CHAI), in collaboration with partner organizations and key malaria policymakers, has developed an operational research portfolio that seeks to address critical outstanding questions regarding how access to malaria treatment can be improved in the context of the AMFm. The projects in this portfolio have been designed to provide rigorous evidence of the impact of various policy innovations that aim to improve the targeting and increase the reach of anti-malarials into the poorest and most remote areas.

We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with outstanding problem-solving, managerial, analytical, and communication skills to assist in managing our research portfolio. The Analyst must have experience with research; experience conducting field research or managing development programs in Africa is a strong plus. A background in public health and knowledge of statistics is desirable.

The Analyst must be able to function independently and flexibly, have a strong commitment to excellence and work on aggressive timelines. The position will be based in East Africa, with travel in the region, and requires a 1.5 year commitment.

Responsibilities:
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
The research portfolio consists of a range of projects of varying sizes and locations. The role of the Analyst will be to assist the Principle Investigator and Research Manager in overseeing the development, implementation and results dissemination of several projects in the portfolio, in collaboration with the subcontractors and partner organizations that are involved in each study.

Assists in the development and execution of projects:
·         Develop (in collaboration with Principle Investigator and field coordinators) surveys, research protocols and other key materials for study design
·         Supporting logistics coordination for projects including research inputs, data collection methods, transportation, etc.
·         Assisting with the development and updating of budgets for each project
·         Checking the quality of data collection and entry
·         Ensuring that the integrity of the research design is being maintained
·         Manage budgets, financial disbursements and accounting for each project (in collaboration with project managers)
·         Coordinating data entry

·         Assisting with the writing of materials describing project results and policy recommendations

Consultant job in Uganda

Background:
The East and Horn of Africa Regional office has identified the need to strengthen the skills of its managers and staff in the field in the utilization of Atlas as part of its effort to improve its programme delivery. Improved skills in use of Atlas will enable managers to take more timely action in terms of improving delivery as well as in the correction of data in Atlas. Furthermore, this would make the process of reporting and tying narrative reports and financial reports easier particularly when donor contracts come to an end and or when ad hoc reports are required.

In addition to the needed training in the use of Atlas, programme managers need to be trained in general programme management monitoring and evaluation; and UNIFEM Implementing partners (mainly Non –governmental organizations) need assistance with capacity building in financial management and programme reporting.
UNIFEM is therefore seeking to recruit consultants with expertise in one or more of these practice areas namely; financial management through Atlas, programme management, monitoring and evaluation; and partner capacity building in financial management and programme reporting.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate under the supervision of the UNIFEM Country Programme Manager in the country, carry out the following tasks:
1. Prepare a training curriculum on Financial Management in Atlas for Country Program Managers and their OICs based on their functions as outlined in the UNIFEM Internal Control Framework.
2. Prepare lesson plans applicable to the delivery of the training. The level of training should be appropriate to assessed needs of the staff of the Country Office including those who have not previously interacted with Atlas.
3. Prepare a training curriculum on Programme Management and Monitoring and Evaluation for programme staff of the Country Office;
4. Prepare a training curriculum for UNIFEM Implementing Partners on Programme Financial Management and Reporting tailored to the assessed needs of the partners;
5. Prepare a schedule of the training programmes including their roll out in consultation with the Country Programme Manager;
6. Respond to any requests for customization of the training programme according to the needs of the Country Office and Implementing Partners;
7. Share knowledge throughout the duration of the training period on good practices in management of delivery against donor resources and donor contract requirements;
8. Prepare detailed evaluations of each participant and include recommendations for further capacity building through advanced training.
9. Submit a final report on the trainings describing the training methodology and results and recommendations for follow up training where required.
Duration and Management:
The duration of the contract is 6 months with at least 5 days of scheduled training each month and at least 5 days of follow up consultations every month(-total time 10 days per month) for a total of 60 days. The contracted individual will work under the direct supervision of the UNIFEM Country Programme Manager with support from the East and Horn of Africa Sub Regional Office in Nairobi.
