Credit Officer job in Nairobi Kenya
The chief functions of a Credit Officer is to identify new customers; facilitate group formation; appraise and assess loan
applications; prepare assessments and recommendations for Credit Manager; and educate loanees as to their responsibilities for repayment of loans.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To interview applicants and to explain the lending procedures and requirements to the potential customers.
To facilitate group formation and train groups
To receive loan applications.
To assess customer's applications, visit the business premises as well as the residence to appraise the financial situation of the customer/business/project.
To advise customers as to the documents and financial, reports required to process their loan applications.
To process customers application and prepare a financial and social data (cash flow, balance sheet) for submission to Credit Manager.

Requirements
A relevant college education and 5 years relevant experience in a microfinance environment. Experience working with groups is critical for this assignment.

Summary:

Finance Manager

Our client, a fast growing chain of hotels in Kenya seeks to fill the following key executive positions for five-star flagship hotel in Nairobi which targets an international corporate and tourist clientele:
General Manager

The General Manager will manage this five-star hotel and key responsibilities will cover setting up the budgets and business strategies and ensuring that these are implemented effectively, supervising department heads, setting up targets for them and monitoring their work and performance.
Duties will include maintaining assets and financial interests as well as strict adherence to financial controls and records.
In addition, he/she will maintain the property to the best standards of cleanliness, sanitation, repair and safety, manage guest and employee relations.
Applications are invited from University graduates from recognized hotel schools. Candidates should have a minimum of five years general management experience gained in a reputable 5-Star Hotel with at least 150 rooms.
They should be computer literate with commanding presence, excellent managerial, communication and leadership skills. International experience will be an advantage and knowledge of finance and ability to develop marketing/ business plans is essential for this position
Food & Beverage Manager

The Food & Beverage Manager will manage the food and beverage department. Duties will include developing and implementing the entire food and beverage offer for all outlets, preparing annual income and expenditure budgets and business plans and carrying out costing.

Guest Relationship Management will also be one of his/her core responsibilities, Major functions will be to lead, direct and implement quality controls, prepare yearly budgets and objectives, monitor strict adherence to agreed budgets.

They should have over five years experience gained in rooms and front office management and should have risen to head position responsible for such additional services as housekeeping and laundry, business centre and guest relations
Director of Sales & Marketing

He/she will prepare and analyse financial reports, establish an effective treasury management system, train and develop staff, coordinate external auditors and ensure compliance with tax and all statutory provisions,

Executive Chef

The Executive Chef will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of high quality food production to satisfy the needs of a diverse clientele used to the highest international standards.
Duties will include the development of recipes, analyzing costs/margins and undertaking menu budgeting and planning.
He/she will also be expected to carry out training and development of kitchen staff
We are interested in persons who currently hold a similar position and have a Diploma in Food Production from recognized high level, internationally acclaimed hotel school.
They should have over seven years' experience in the preparation of international and local cuisine in a 5-star hotel. Overseas working experience will be an added advantage.
Chief Engineer

The selected candidate will be involved in the installation of all engineering equipment and facilities at this 5-star hotel and subsequently supervise service and maintenance to the required standards and in accordance with regulations for maximum safety and security.
He/ she will be expected to design and oversee effective maintenance procedures for the facilities, continuously improve standards of the equipment, carry out periodic inspection for purposes of continuous maintenance and serviceability.
Duties will also be to supervise all engineering facilities to ensure timely implementation and prepare and maintain reports and records of status of all hotel equipment,
Candidates should hold a B.Sc degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering and should have minimum seven years experience in service and maintenance of 5-star hotel facilities.

IT Manager

The IT Manager will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure, implementing IT policies and procedures and providing hands on internal support to the users on all hardware and software.
Duties will include the administration of the computer network, provision of IT solutions including training of staff and attending to guests on IT related needs.
We are interested in university graduates who hold B. Sc. degree in Technology, Computer Science or equivalent qualifications.

The role
The Group Chief Finance Officer will have overall responsibility for leading, implementing and executing the company’s major strategic objectives and initiatives.
A member of the senior executive management team, s/he will be influential and play a significant role in the development of the strategic direction of UAP.
Description: Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Coordinating the development and implementation of a value maximizing corporate strategy for UAP Holdings. This will include leading the implementation of major investment projects geared to achieving profitable growth;
* Leading the development and execution of the Group’s annual budgets and coordinating the annual planning process of the Subsidiaries to ensure that annual business plans are developed on time and are aligned to the corporate strategy;
* Leading and providing direction in the planning and execution of major company transactions such as mergers and/or acquisitions and other significant investment projects and playing a key role in the execution of all major financial transactions, including borrowing and major investments;
* Setting up and overseeing the operations of the UAP Shared Service Center with the objective of delivering high quality services that maximizes on cost effectiveness;
* Ensuring the effective and efficient management of UAP Group financial operations including ensuring that all external reporting and compliance obligations are fulfilled on a timely basis, preparing and presenting regular reports to the Board of the Group on the performance of the Company and its Subsidiaries; and
* In collaboration with subsidiary CEOs, developing an enterprise wide investment strategy and investment policies for the respective companies and monitoring the implementation of the strategy to ensure the highest risk adjusted returns.
Requirements:
The person
The Group Chief Finance Officer will possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree from a recognized university with professional qualifications in accounting or finance such as CPA-K, ACCA or CFA. A Masters degree in Business Administration or related field will be an added advantage. S/he will have a minimum of ten years management experience, three of which should be at a senior management level in finance.

Description: Finance and Administration Manager
The successful candidate will head the Finance and Administration unit of the institute. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day financial, human resource and administrative operations of the institute.
He/she will report directly to the Director, Tegemeo Institute.
Other key tasks shall include:
* Prudent management of financial resources
* Effective management of human resource and continuous improvement of administrative services.
* Formulation of sound financial policies, procedures and accounting systems that ensure effective management of funds.
* Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, IFRS and other financial, human resource and procurement laws and regulations.
* Ensure timely preparation of budgets and implementation of budgetary controls.
* Ensure compliance with donors’ requirements.
* Ensure timely preparation of financial management reports.
* Liaise closely with the University Finance Officer on matters related to finance and accounting.
Requirements:
Qualifications and skills
The preferred candidate should:
* Hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting option) and have attained CPA (K);
* Possession of MBA will be an added advantage.
* Has attained a minimum of 5 years experience at a senior level in a busy accounting environment and have full knowledge of payroll administration;
* Have a working knowledge of electronic accounting system and project accounting and be familiar with donor financial reporting;
* Have an understanding of foreign exchange accounting, budget processing and the budgetary process and vote book control;
* Possess a good grasp of MS office suite.
A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
The position carries with it a two year renewable contract, subject to six months probation.
