Technical Manager

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Technical Manager will be required to provide all required technical expertise and management in of water supply and sewer connection and treatment including infrastructure maintenance.

The role
Direct, coordinate, control and manage the company operations and maintenance of infrastructure in order to supply water and sanitation services to the required standards and in compliance with the company policy while meeting cost and other delivery targets
Develop departmental policies, plans strategies and action plans that are in keeping with the overall company mission and objectives
Provide high quality water to domestic, commercial and industrial customers.
Develop customer focus on provision of service by maintaining good working relations with customers
Manage the company assets such as plant, machinery through effective maintenance program
Liaise with consultants, contractors and other relevant professionals in the infrastructure development
Ensure development of departmental staff through training.
The person

Qualification/Experience
A BSc. (civil/water Engineering) degree
Registered engineer with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and a member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya/Registrable with ERB/I.E.K.
Experience in a large technical organization preferably in water sector
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Post graduate qualification in management is added advantage.

Senior Technical Officer, Behavior Change Communication – ROADS II Project

The incumbent will provide technical & management support, coordination, monitoring & reporting for multisectoral HIV and AIDS programming in Tanzania under the ROADS Project, and work with program staff/partners to develop Behavior Change Communication (BCe) strategies to empower individuals and communities to practice positive behaviors by improving their knowledge, attitudes, skills and norms about key practices and promoting changes in the enabling environment and improved service delivery at the community and other levels.


Position Responsibilities


• Providing BCC technical oversight and support to the design, implementation, and evaluation of the program.


• Supporting the design and development of agreements with implementing partners and provides on-going technical assistance and monitoring of these activities.


• Ensuring technical support to subprojects in the areas of management, finance and specific technical areas.


• Assisting in annual work plan and budget development and provides leadership in meeting programmatic and financial reporting requirements.


• Building capacity of implementing partners to manage HIV/AIDS programming through project technical assistance, monitoring, and management


• Working with stakeholders, coordinate the development of cohesive integrated BCC strategies.


• Organizing and conducting regular stakeholders meetings to review coordinated implementation of BCC strategies.


• Aid in the development and/or adaptation of culturally sensitive BCC messages, programs and materials that will be used by Project staff and partners operating under the project.


• Contributing to the identification and scaling-up of best practices in behavior change interventions.


• Participating in the documentation and dissemination of project activities. •


• Ensuring accurate and timely reports and other relevant documents for field programs.


• Contributing to the projects annual strategic planning, work planning, and budgeting processes.


• Managing the development of tools and procedures for project implementation; reporting; monitoring; evaluation; capacity assessment; and/or management consistent with cooperative agreement requirements.


• Determining the feasibility of developing new projects based on current initiatives and capabilities.


• Providing leadership and team building at the project level.


Position requirements


• Masters in public health, communications; and/or the behavioral sciences


• Minimum five years experience with international development programs /Experience must reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities noted above


• Demonstrated expertise in strategic communication principles and practices


• Proven track record in designing and implementing innovative, results-oriented behavior change programs in the social sector


• Strong leadership, strategic planning, excellent interpersonal and communications skills (ability to work effectively in a team, ability to work effectively with diverse groups);


• Professional experience working in HIV prevention programs or sexual health and/or education and/or HIV


• Familiarity with principles and approaches in community mobilization


• Fluency in written and oral English and Kiswahili


• Relevant computer software skills


• Working independently with initiative to manage high volume work flow

Purpose of the Position:

To provide the technical advice and direction needed by the social determinant Project Officers for successful rollout of APHIAplus social determinant within the districts in partnership with PATH, JHPIEGO, EGPAF, Government of Kenya (GoK) and target communities.

In order to successfully do so, the Technical Specialist III (Social Determinants) must be able to effectively communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality life that serves as an example to others.

Major Responsibilities:
Provide technical and operational leadership and direction to the APHIAplus Zone 1 Social Determinant in a county
Responsible for quality assurance as far as delivery and performance of Social Determinant for Health component of APHIAplus Zone 1 in the county
Facilitate the integration of Social Determinant for Health result areas with result area 3 interventions for synergy and sustainable impact
Oversees the development and implementation of Social Determinant for Health annual work-plans for APHIAplus Zone 1 in the county
Ensure Build adherence to the USAID regulations by ensuring transparency and trust as far as financial responsibility is concerned
Support Senior Team Leader to ensure quality, focus implementation, monitoring and evaluation of APHIAplus’ Zone 1 Social Determinants of Health interventions in integrated household livelihoods community resiliency and, disaster mitigation and management
Ensure that APHIAplus Zone 1 Social Determinant for Health component is implemented in compliance with WV, GoK, and other acceptable standards and norms
Facilitate development and rollout of needed programming and monitoring tools, methodological approaches, technical assistance, training / capacity building, DME support and accompanying business processes to ensure that program interventions in household livelihoods community resiliency, disaster mitigation and management achieve and surpass performance targets
Oversee the development of the program’s interventions and synergies with other related programs
Impart appropriate mentoring, coaching and supervision in order to equip, motivate and empower the technical advisors and social development officers
Qualifications:
Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience: The holder of this position must have a minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field from a recognized University. An advanced degree is highly preferred;
They must have a minimum of 7 years experience designing, planning, implementing, supervising and reporting on integrated social livelihood and development projects with at least 3 of those years in a USAID funded project of social development nature;
They must have both an extensive conceptual understanding of and demonstrated practical command for implementing Social Determinant programs;
The holder of this position must be results orientated leader with performance based management knowledge who can manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands;
He /she must also have solid public relations skills and be a strong team player;

Chief Manager: Technical Services and Operations job in Kenya

Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority is a state corporation established in 1974 by the Act of Parliament Cap 443, to undertake integrated planning, development coordination, and management of the resources within the Tana and Athi basins.
The Authority seeks to recruit the following


Chief Manager: Technical Services and Operations
Reporting to the Managing Director
Provides technical direction for the development, design and systems integration for the service engagement from definition phase through to implementation.
Provide overall leadership, coordination, management and supervision of specific technical services and operations including engineering works with the RDA.
Co-ordinate implementation of the schemes within the area such that human, water, animal, land and other resources are utilized to the best advantage and to monitor the design and execution of planned projects within the area.
Co-ordinate and present abstraction and use of natural resources, especially water, within the area and to set up effective strategies of such abstractions and usage.
Cause and effect the construction of any works deemed necessary for the protection and utilization of the water and soils of the area.
Ensure that land owners in the area undertake all the measures specified by the Authority to protect the water and soils of the area.
Spearhead and supervise identification, collection, collation and correlation of all such activities related to the use of water and other resources and also economic and related activities within the area as may be necessary for the efficient forward planning of the area.
Account on the delivery of the set technical services and operations targets and provide regular monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service of the Authority.
Reviews work of development teams.
Recognize system defencies and implements effective solutions for agricultural, engineering, mining and environmental activities.
Manages technical resources within budget and project schedule.
Consistently delivers high-quality services to the Authority and / or clients.
Qualification and Experience:
A minimum of a Masters degree in Agricultural Engineering, Natural Resource, Civil Engineering or other related field from a recognized university.
Must be registered by ERB (Engineers Registration Board) in case of Engineers.
Must have served in a senior management position in the infrastructure sector in Kenya for at least 10 years.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the role of regional development in Kenya’s social economic development and particularly in line with vision 2030.
Computer literate in AutoCAD and other Computer Aided Design (CAD) engineering design programmes

Technical & Training Manager

Employment Type: Full Time
Summary: The holder of this position will ensure that training and the technical aspects of exam administration is relevant to the course content and to ensure successful completion of prescribed curriculum.
The position requires an individual with thorough knowledge of ICT Training concepts, practices and procedures, they will rely on professional qualifications, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish successful training sessions. A wide degree of creativity, leadership, and latitude is expected.
Service Delivery
Preparing work in advance to ensure effective and professional delivery of lectures i.e. preparing the study material for the lecture, preparing the software set up for the lecture and preparing the class setup.
Conduct practical sessions and provide relevant support to learners during training and evaluation sessions.
Ensure that all hardware and software are fully functional at all times & maintaining the networks functionality.
Interact with students, identify problems and establish a solution by rectifying the problem or brining it under the attention of the management.
Coordinate with Operations Manager in assisting incoming course participants with their registration & collection of course ware.
Completing of the class register and submitting it to the operations office after the course is complete.
Compiling a report if so required by management.
Ensuring that the trainer evaluation forms are completed by the students on a weekly basis.
Compiling feedback from all students for managers’ review.
Leadership and Management
High levels of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Provide continuous updates to management.
Provide constructive feedback to enquiries from course participants.
Identify new areas of training with vendor and assist in creating and implementing the course.

Training, Skills & Experience Required:

A Degree in BSC IT, Education or any other related field.
Three (3+) years experience in a similar position.
Proficiency in the use of English spoken and written.
Should have acquired training on the trainer course, Management of Learning or B Ed.
Should be a qualified MCT, CCNA, CCNP, CCSI, MCSE, MCSA, MCITP, and MCTS.
Knowledge of Microsoft windows 2003/Exchange 2003 network management & Administration experience.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and clearly convey technical information and certification requirements.
Experience as Chief Trainer with DIT will be an added advantage.
High degree and passion for skills development.
Knowledge
Ability to provide constructive feedback to mature audience
Excellent presentation, facilitation and time management skills.
Excellent organizational and coaching skills.
Attention to detail, good numerical skills, good data management skills
Should be able to prove his knowledge, skills and expertise to delivery and conduct a course maintaining the objectives.

Technical Supervisor

Responsibilities will include evaluating projects and advising the Project Management & the Constituency Development Committees on technical issues in the building of development projects; The suitable candidate will be employed on full time basis.

Consultant Quantity Surveyor

Duties will include evaluating, supervising, and advising the KCDC on the management of the CDF projects.
