Responsibility
Participate in new and existing product and feature development across multiple development teams.
Providing software maintenance and development for the application implemented in Java, Oracle Forms & Reports
Creating or update technical system documentation including design documents and installation instructions
Performing unit and system testing
Attending customer meetings
Adhering to established polices and procedures to ensure integrity and quality of projects
Make recommendations to enhance and coordinate programming activities and standards to be used for all software development throughout the company.
Knowledge & Skills requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 - 5 years experience with software development and relational databases.
Experience in developing financial management systems.
CPA part 2 qualification is an added advantage
Strong programming skills/knowledge. Experience with PL/SQL, Oracle forms and reports will be an added advantage,
Understanding of insurance business is an added advantage.
Exposure to E-Business Suite implementations or SAP an added advantage.
Java/J2EE programming experience
Experience with BPM, hibernate and 3 tier development.
Ability to Perform software development tasks in a professional and effective manner.
Efficiently develop and program, in a structured manner, ancillary applications, interfaces, and reports for all areas of the company.
Must have solid programming skills and a sound understanding of data structures, database theory and database administration.
Possess a strong understanding of software engineering principals including data normalization, structured programming and software development cycles.

Safaricom Senior Data Center Engineer Job in Kenya
We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the IT Network Infrastructure Department within the Information Technology Division.

Senior Data Center Engineer
Ref: IT_ SDCE_ NOV 2010
Reporting to Senior Manager; IT Systems Infrastructure, the holder of the position will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and supporting Safaricom data centers and disaster recovery sites.
You will coordinate and manage efforts towards the construction of new data center(s) or recovery sites through management of vendors, coordination of relevant construction process, procurement and equipping of the data centers.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations Management:
* Managing, configuration and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems in use in the data center environment including UPS systems, AC unit’s chiller, feeders, inverters and generators.
* Analysis of air flow and temperatures within the data centers including implementation of tactical service improvements and upgrades to improve air circulation and optimize temperatures in the data centers and disaster recovery site.
* Physical access control management; manage access list, authorize additions and deletions, periodically review access list for potential deletions and periodically audit access logs for exceptions.
* Develop and manage systems documentation, drawings and procedures.
Capacity Planning:
* Monitor consumption of space, power and cooling capacity. Provide visibility of capacity and consumption of resources to management.
* Manage hardware in date center to maximize utilization.
* Change management coordination; manage new hardware capacity allocation within the data centers as well as decommissioned hardware.
* Allocate space for new hardware, coordinate electrical connectivity, and physical movement of equipment in data center.
Minimum requirements
* Engineering Degree.
* 5-6 years work experience in a data center facility in a large corporate company.
* Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in use in a data center environment including feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS systems and AC units.
* Base knowledge of networking, LAN, WAN and SAN environments.
* Skills in optimizing floor space, power and cooling.
* Ability to evaluate maintenance activities for potential business impact and risk.
* Ability to coordinate vendor or contractors activities within the data centers.
* Experience leading complex productive projects with management visibility.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a responsible and business like manner.

Government Jobs In Uganda- District SAGE Advisors Vacancies, Ministry of Gender
The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), with support from the UK Department tor International Development and Irish Aid, is implementing the Expanding Social Protection Programme (ESPP) in Uganda.
The ESPP is a five year programme which is coordinated by the Social Protection Secretariat within the MGLSD and includes a pilot cash transfer scheme, the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) Programme. SAGE will provide regular cash transfers to vulnerable families living in chronic poverty. SAGE will work initially in fourteen districts, reaching 15% of households, in target districts, with the aim of subsequent national scale-up.
Our client, Maxwell Stamp PLC has been providing technical support to MGLSD to implement the ESPP. Maxwell Stamp PLC are now seeking to fill four key positions in the Social Protection Programme at district level;
Position: District SAGE Advisors
Location: Kyenjojo, Kaberamaido and Kiboga districts
The successful candidates will work in partnership with Kyenjojo, Kaberamaido and Kiboga district authorities to support implementation of the SAGE cash transfer scheme. Post holders will be responsible for delivering training to local government staff, monitoring programme implementation and will occasionally be required to support sub-county and parish level activities. In addition, post holders will be required to liaise with private sector payment service providers to ensure timely payment of SAGE entitlements to beneficiaries.Regular and extensive travel throughout the pilot districts will therefore be required.
Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years’ relevant professional experience to HSS and especially human resources for health, project management and administration

ICT Officer - FAHAMU
- Providing ICT technical support for Fahamu offices.
- Provide design support for Fahamu’s programs.
- Create, update and manage the Fahamu website and associated program sites, including but not limited to the AU Monitor and the Emerging Powers in Africa sites, including, where appropriate, the migration of these sites to appropriate content management systems.
- Create, update and manage partner and associated websites where support is required.
- Provide advice and support to Fahamu’s program staff and partners to implement new media strategies in human rights and social justice protection and advocacy including where appropriate, through trainings and workshops and development of curricula.
- Assist in the setting up and maintenance of the Pambazuka platform
- Assist in the implementation of ICTs for learning including support for Fahamu’s distance learning courses and other online training platforms.
- Assist in the development and update of Fahamu and partners’ online presence on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking platforms
- Provide advice on Fahamu’s database management system.
- Maintain Fahamu and partners’ listserves and online newsletters.
- Ability to nurture young activists in using ICTs for social justice
