We seek qualified candidates for the position of Senior Technical Advisor, HIV Prevention.

Position Responsibilities:

The Senior Technical Advisor, HIV Prevention will provide global scientific, technical leadership and support in the design, development, planning, implementation, execution, capacity-building, and evaluation of HIV prevention programs operating at country, regional and global levels.

Responsibilities include: Advises on the design, development, implementation and evaluation of country- and context-specific HIV prevention programs serving generalized and most-at-risk populations; Assesses the state of HIV prevention programming and science; Ensures that FHI evolves and adapts HIV prevention programs in step with emerging evidence and program experience; Represents FHI as a global technical leader in HIV prevention science and programs; Builds and sustains collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders including in-country partners, local and international NGOs, local governments, and sponsors; Identifies and successfully secures new funding to bolster FHI's HIV prevention programs and research; Produces peer-reviewed publications documenting evidence for effective HIV prevention programs and methods across diverse settings and populations; Provides technical assistance and leadership through the writing and review of proposals, protocols, papers, and reports to ensure quality, accuracy and appropriateness; Actively links FHI biomedical and behavioral expertise in HIV prevention research with critical country needs; Represents FHI at scientific meetings, on scientific panels and in discussions with major donor institutions, multilateral agencies, government counterparts, and implementing partners to coordinate project development and implementation; Serves on committees and teams both internal and external to FHI; Mentors and transfers knowledge to staff; Assures compliance with FHI standards and all applicable federal and international regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

MD or PhD (or equivalent degree) in health-related field with 7 - 9 years relevant experience in HIV prevention programs. Excellent demonstrated knowledge of HIV prevention science, methods, and evidence for effectiveness in both generalized and concentrated epidemics, particularly in African and/or Asian settings. Substantial experience working and providing technical assistance in developing countries. Record of peer reviewed publications and presentations at scientific/technical meetings. Proven track record of leading proposals and securing funding from multiple sources. Capacity to mentor and transfer knowledge to staff. Fluent written and oral English; ability to speak French an asset.

Preferred location is Nairobi, Kenya and other locations may be considered.
