Requirement;

1. Experienced Microbiologist, preferably from the food or pharmaceutical industry (.To a lesser extent, medical microbiologist.) Experience as a MINIMUM must be over 1 year doing BENCHWORK Microbiology in food manufacturing
2. Good knowledge of HACCP , and ISO 22000 FSMS
3. Able to conduct hygiene monitoring of production areas and canteen—i.e. can act as a hygienist
4. Understands CIP procedures and monitoring
5. Microbiology Laboratory Management knowledge



Education

1. National Diploma in Applied Biology/ Microbiology / Food Technology with over 3 years experience

2. Higher National Diploma in above disciplines with over 2 years experience

Job Description: Management Sciences for Health is currently running a 5 year program whose mandate is to Secure Uganda’s Right to Essential Medicines (SURE).

Overall Responsibilities
Under SURE, provides support to assigned districts in planning, implementing, and monitoring pharmaceutical management interventions.

S/he works closely with district health management teams to ensure that all SURE technical assistance, capacity building and pharmaceutical information system activities are adequately implemented and results documented.

Works closely with the supply chain supervisors of the health sub districts to ensure that all lower level facilities (HC II and HC III) are regularly supervised

Ensure that performance assessment is done during a supervision visits and facility improvement plans are developed and implemented

Assist in assessing, analyzing and reporting on the pharmaceutical situation in the districts and health sub district

Requirements

1) Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, or degree in a health area with demonstrated experience in supply chain management 2) Work experience of not less than 3 years in health commodities supply chain.

3) Experience in supervision and performance monitoring of health facilities in health commodities logistics management

4) Long-term working experience in Uganda with knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the Uganda public health system

5) Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other stakeholders in developing creative and strategic solutions to achieve common goals

6) Demonstrated strong organizational, administrative and communications skills. 7) Ability and willingness to travel extensively in the assigned region.

Reports to: Care and Treatment Specialist

Purpose of the job: To monitor and coordinate the strengthening of the Part¬ner districts and health facility activities to address the dual burden of TB/HIV through implementation of collaborative activities in accordance with MOH guidelines.

Key results areas
1. Support partner districts and health facilities to integrate planning for TB/ HIV activities into district work plans, budgets and performance measure¬ment plans.
2. Plan, direct and participate in building capacity of partner districts and health facilities to integrate and implement TB/HIV collaborative activities.
3. Provide technical support to partner districts in integrating and conducting support supervision of TB/HIV activities as part of the overall district plan for support supervision of health services.
4. Support partner districts to improve linkages and referrals between HIV/ AIDS care and TB control programs at all levels of health care delivery.
5. Support partner districts to conduct coordination and progress review meetings for TB/HIV activities.
6. Support relevant district directorates and departments to build capacity of existing community structures (VHTs, DOTS and other volunteers) to integrate TB/HIV into existing activities
7. Prepare regular reports about TB/HIV program activities and submit them to the Care and treatment specialist for review in accordance with established reporting guidelines.

Qualifications and personal specifications
The successful candidate will have;
1. A Master's degree in internal Medicine or Paediatrics,
2. At least three (3) years' experience in public health preferably in TB/HIV programming
3. Computer literacy in MS Office
4. Good presentation, interpersonal, teamwork, and oral and written communication skills,
5. 24-40 years of age
6. Registration with the Uganda Medical Council is required

Summary:

Acting as the overall studies/projects coordinator for the Cluster, the position holder will work on a variety of studies/projects to provide support on studies and project planning, implementation and monitoring, but will but primary responsibility for the Vaccine Adverse Events In Kenya (VAEIK) study.

Reporting Lines: This role reports to the Cluster Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtaining user needs, interpreting and assisting PIs to develop project/study plans/protocols and monitor implementation of the same
• Developing project timelines and work plans and maintaining projects and study documentations and monitoring registers/tools
• Developing, updating and implementing processes and procedures for studies introduction and management
• Coordinating training for study teams and lead study initiation and closure exercises
• Constructing and maintaining an inventory of all ongoing studies with deadlines for annual reports, and associated forms.
• Assist in coordinating the recruitment of interns for the cluster
• Assisting PIs in drafting study reports to ethical review committees and sponsor
• Coordinating and leading project teams in various projects/studies
• Maintaining project documentation including standard operating procedures for data management, clinical & lab activities; ethical review protocols and approvals; study reports to sponsor; etc.
• Performing other duties as assigned from time to time

Skills and Competence:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in medical sciences, nursing or equivalent and a diploma or certificate in Project Management.

In addition to working with the Cluster team, the position holder will be expected to interact and work closely with Programme’s ICT section and field managers.

Joint Medical Store (JMS) Job Advertisement: Medical Equipment Technician

Joint Medical Store (JMS) is a Church founded private not-for-profit organization whose mission is to supply medicines, medical equipment and related healthcare services, and training of assured quality to the people of Uganda at affordable prices.

One of the key services that JMS provides to its customers is repair and maintenance of a variety of medical equipment products.

Following an increase in work load both at out workshop and at various member units' health facilities, JMS would like to increase the size of its workshop team by recruiting a qualified and experienced Medical Equipment Technician.

Scope of Position

This is a full time job where the Job holder will be involved in installation of a variety of medical equipment at customer sites, train users, carry out preventive maintenance and repair works in line with the JMS guidelines and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Carry out maintenance and repair of customers' medical equipment brought to the workshop.
2. Participate in outreach visits to customer sites to install, test, and commission medical equipment, carry out maintenance and repair works.
3. Provide advisory services to customers about medical equipment standardization and replacement planning, establishing safety at work and fire prevention.
4. Participate in delivering medical equipment management training programes for member units.
5. Participate in the development of specifications for medical equipment on the JMS standard list and advise customers on the appropriate equipment in order to match their needs
6. Ensure safe custody of workshop tools and equipment, and plan for their replenishment.
7. Provide technical advice and support to JMS with respect to operational equipment and other installations where applicable.
   

Qualifications and experience

• A higher diploma in medical, electro-mechanical, electronic engineering or the equivalent.
  
• Specialized training in repair and maintenance of medical equipment is a key requirement.
• A minimum of two working experience in a similar position.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematics and equipment service manuals
• Competence in using all applicable test equipment and workshop tools required in the performance of the outlined duties
• A good team player with strong interpersonal and customer care skills
• Ability to prioritize effectively and follow up tasks to end with minimum supervision
• Well developed written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

Working conditions

• Day to day duties will be executed in a technical workshop environment
• Job holder will occasionally travel to customer sites located in different parts of Uganda to carry out official duties.
