Summary:
Acting as the overall studies/projects coordinator for the Cluster, the position holder will work on a variety of studies/projects to provide support on studies and project planning, implementation and monitoring, but will but primary responsibility for the Vaccine Adverse Events In Kenya (VAEIK) study.
Reporting Lines: This role reports to the Cluster Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtaining user needs, interpreting and assisting PIs to develop project/study plans/protocols and monitor implementation of the same
- Developing project timelines and work plans and maintaining projects and study documentations and monitoring registers/tools
- Developing, updating and implementing processes and procedures for studies introduction and management
- Coordinating training for study teams and lead study initiation and closure exercises
- Constructing and maintaining an inventory of all ongoing studies with deadlines for annual reports, and associated forms.
- Assist in coordinating the recruitment of interns for the cluster
- Assisting PIs in drafting study reports to ethical review committees and sponsor
- Coordinating and leading project teams in various projects/studies
- Maintaining project documentation including standard operating procedures for data management, clinical & lab activities; ethical review protocols and approvals; study reports to sponsor; etc.
- Performing other duties as assigned from time to time
Skills and Competence:
- Excellent computing skills, including MS-Office and project planning
- Attention to fine details and excellent analytical skills
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and to achieve results through teams
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in medical sciences, nursing or equivalent and a diploma or certificate in Project Management.
- Demonstrated competence in studies and projects coordination with at least three years experience in a similar position in a research or health institution.
Relationships:
In addition to working with the Cluster team, the position holder will be expected to interact and work closely with Programme’s ICT section and field managers.
