Summary:
The post holder will be involved in routine care, maintenance and calibration (where appropriate) of laboratory equipment.
Contract Duration: 1 (one) Year in the first instance
Reporting Lines: Reports to the Research Laboratory Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine care, maintenance and calibration (where appropriate) of laboratory equipment including; Freezers, fridges, incubators, pH meters, balances, microscopes, water purifiers, automatic pipettes etc
- Management and handling of laboratory gases including Liquid Nitrogen
- Assisting in the coordination of all equipment inventory, essential spares stocks and maintenance contracts.
- In liaison with maintenance department, perform first-line diagnostics and trouble shooting of faulty equipment.
Essential Requirements:
- Certificate in Med Laboratory Sciences or Biomedical Engineering.
- Experience of maintaining medical laboratory equipment, preferably in a research environment.
- Good computer skills, particularly MS Excel, word, email and the internet
- Familiarity with international health and safety practices
- Good communication skills.
