  1. Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Administrative Assistant and overall supervision of the Senior Admin/Finance Officer, the incumbent performs the following functions:

  1. Drives staff members and official visitors;

  1. Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities;

  1. Collects and delivers mail or documents when required;

  1. Use his own initiative through security awareness of the operational area to avoid attacks on passengers;

  1. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;

  1. Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.;

  1. Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident;

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. Qualifications:

            Knowledge and Skills: Primary Education with Valid Driving licence Class B, C, E. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs. ‘O’ level Certificate will be an added advantage.

            Experience: At least five years of previous Job Experience. Knowledge of driving 4-wheel drive vehicles and trucks is essential.

            Language: Good knowledge of English and Kiswahili.

      1. Within UNHCR
        • Regular contacts involving a limited exchange of information.

      1. With External Parties:
        • Limited contacts involving a limited exchange of information

  1. Impact of Work:
      • Decisions made by incumbent based on wrong judgement could have consequences for staff safety and office property.

6. Additional Information:

      • The appointed candidate should be computer literate.
