Manager, Capital Advisory Career Opportunity

Our client, Unitus, is an international non-profit organisation that works to reduce global poverty by increasing access to micro-finance services.

Unitus partners with microfinance (MFIs) institutions to build their capacity and attract capital.

The organisation is currently expanding its operations in East Africa and will focus on accelerating the growth of early stage MFIs through training, consulting and capital. Unitus seeks to recruit a highly skilled professional with a strong financial, investment and credit analysis background.

The Job

The Manager, Capital Advisory will identify and evaluate funding opportunities and provide on going technical expertise to partner MFIs for the purposes of raising and arranging capital.

He/She will also actively participate in the management of Unitus’ portfolio of loans and guarantees including assessing the credit worthiness of borrowers and advising the company on appropriate debt loads.

Requirements

This position will suit a focussed, analytical and strategic thinker with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will have a strong understanding of the local and regional capital markets and a passion for poverty alleviation and social development.

In addition to this you will have:

  • At least 5 -7 years experience in credit and investments analysis within the banking industry or other related financial institution;
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business or other related field from a reputable institution of higher learning; a master’s degree is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in business planning and development of financial projections;
  • A strong understanding of the local and regional capital markets;
  • Experience in negotiating interest rates, investment terms and in preparing related legal documentation; and
  • Business and financial modelling skills
  • Candidates with a corporate banking background and MFI experience will have an added advantage.
The successful individual will be required to undertake significant travel, up to a minimum of 30% of the time.
