The United States Embassy — Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Kenya has a vacancy in Nairobi for Technical Advisor (Strategic Information).

As a member of the GAP Kenya Management Team, the incumbent manages the GAP Kenya Strategic Information (SI) section, and serves as the PEPFAR SI iiaison for Kenya, leading the USG SI inter-agency technical team (ITT) activities, including the PEPFAR annual budget ($ I I million USD).

The SI Chief supervises Data Managers, Statisticians, and Computer Programmers, to ensure the application of modern database technologies for effective data management, reporting, and data utilization by GAP and PEPFAR funded partners.

The general responsibilities of the position are to ensure that strategic information is effectively collected and used to improve PEPFAR funded programs and achieve USG-PEPFAR goals.

Requirements: Masters Degree in Epidemiology, Medical Informatics, Computer Science, Biostatisties, or Public Health is required.

A total of 5 years of experience is required - i.e.,4 years experience in managing medical data, especially HIV/AIDS program or similar research data, is required. Specialized training in the data management of large databases (e.g., Epilnfo, SAS) is required.

Must have a strong statistical and data management background; 2 years demonstrated experience using and analyzing public health data, and at least 2 years of experience working as a data manager or analyst in Public Health research or evaluation.

Minimum 2 years of management and supervisory experience is also required. Level IV (fluent) English is required.

Familiarity with the Kenya Ministry of Health, HMIS organization structure within MoH,and NASCOP,are required. Proficiency with HIV/AIDS indicators (e.g., PEPFAR, UNGASS, CRIS) and the demonstrated ability to use relevant software for the management of large databases (e.g., Epilnfo, SAS) is required.
