An innovative insurance company is seeking to recruit for the following positions:

Position: Internal Audit Manager
Reporting to: Audit Committee

Overall Responsibility

To use his/her proven, well-developed skills to ensure that Company policy and internal control procedures are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the Company’s financial, physical and information resources are managed
  • To work with management to ensure a system is in place which ensures that all major risks of the Company are identified and analyzed, on an annual basis
  • To plan, organize and carry out the internal audit function including the preparation of an audit plan which fulfills the responsibility of the department, scheduling and assigning work and estimating resource needs
  • To report to the audit committee on the policies, programmes & activities of the department
  • To coordinate coverage with the external auditors and ensure that each party is not only aware of the other’s work but also well briefed on areas of concern
  • To make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor management’s response and implementation
  • To review and report on the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of the financial and other information required
  • To provide the audit committee with an opinion on the internal controls in the Company
Academic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field
  • A recognized professional qualification (e.g. CIMA / ACCA / CPA (K) / CFA or equivalent )
Skill Requirements
  • In depth experience of either operational audit or external audit with relevant insurance experience
  • A thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and practices of accounting and financial records and transactions.
  • A knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits
  • A knowledge of computerised accounting and auditing record-keeping systems
  • Superior ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports
  • An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit, particularly legislation changes and developments as they affect the Company, and new auditing techniques and practices
  • An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other company staff and to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • An ability to work under minimal supervision
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar capacity.
Position: Investigation Manager - Risk Department
Reporting to: Executive Director

Overall Responsibility

To identify both internal and external risks to the Company

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement risk management strategies and processes to enable early identification of risks especially detection of fraudulent claims.
  • Institute strategies to control and minimize the risks
  • Evaluate the strategies, policies, standards, procedures and related practices for claims management, and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Compiling and discussing reports detailing findings, studying trends from the various claim reports to enable early detection of fraudulent claims.
  • Make recommendations on the claim investigation process.
  • Evaluate application of internal claims workflows and procedures, identify deviations and recommend appropriate changes whenever necessary.
  • Partner with management to provide continual risk assessment and in the development of procedures and compliance training.
  • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation programmes
Key skills
  • High integrity , dependability and forward planning
  • Good rapport with external parties involved in the claims process including but not limited to the Kenya Police and major hospitals.
  • Ability to work under pressure, under minimal supervision and deal with responsibility
  • Numeracy and mathematical ability
  • Sound knowledge the legal and regulatory framework w the insurance act,
  • Good communication, analytical and negotiation skills and Computer proficiency
Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or business-related field
  • Diploma in Risk Management
Experience
  • 10 years experience
Position: Investigation Manager – Investigation Department
Reporting to: Managing Director

Overall Responsibility

To ensure that the Investigation and Document Authentication Department function efficiently and effectively

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accuracy, quality and integrity of Investigation Reports
  • Supervise Investigators and ensure efficient completion of assignments
  • Co-ordinate and monitor movement of Investigators throughout the branches to ensure geographical effectiveness
  • Effective administration and management of the Investigations Department
  • Co-ordinate and oversee new and refresher training of Investigators
  • Provide accurate reports on operations on a regular basis
  • Carrying out investigations and reconstruction of major accidents
Skill Requirements
  • At least 5 years experience in insurance claims and loss investigations
  • Proactive and innovative leadership skills
  • Detail-oriented and quick learning capability
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and reporting skills
  • High integrity and dependability
  • Computer proficiency
  • Knowledge of automotive engineering
Academic Requirements:
  • University degree
  • Insurance Qualifications (e.g. CoP, AIIK or equivalent)
  • Diploma in investigations
Position: Systems Developer
Reporting to: Executive Director

Overall Responsibility

To be an understudy to the current System Developer and be able to program the various system enhancements as well as ensure that the system is running at optimal levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain an existing customized large Enterprise Resource Panning business system
  • Design customized improvements and functions to the business system
  • Identify and/or propose suitable system solutions
  • Specify, design, implement and document systems changes
  • Plan, document and coordinate systems changeover processes
  • Monitor and optimize existing systems
  • Design and Extract ad hoc management reports
Job Requirements

The applicant must have:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in IT/Computer Science or higher Diploma in Software Engineering
  • At least 3 years of working experience in systems analysis, design, implementation and software programming
  • Software Project Management Skills
  • Knowledge of MS Windows Server 2000 and 2003 platform
  • Experience with client-server databases and advanced SQL 2005 knowledge
  • Programming knowledge in Visual Fox Pro and Web applications
  • Proven understanding of business process automation
Position: Sales and Customer Service Manager
Reports to: General Manager - Sales
Location: Nyeri

Overall Responsibility

To enable the Company meet its sales budgets within a given time period and to serve customers in the most efficient and professional manner possible.

Requirements
  • Establish & maintain relationships with insurance intermediaries, fleet owners and public service vehicle operators and ensuring that the insurance intermediaries meet their targets
  • Ability to understand the Company’s products and promoting them to the said insurance intermediaries and the insurance market in general
  • Developing targets and budgeting from premium production per insurance intermediary
  • Providing Customer Service Support and answering queries raised by intermediaries or customers of the Company
  • Formulate and implement marketing strategies to achieve set sales and profitability targets & enhancing the corporate image so as to optimize business retention
  • Ensuring that appropriate management structures and policies are implemented and contributing to the company’s long term strategy and annual business plans.
  • Ensuring business retention is optimized and there is continuous prospecting for new business
  • Monitoring, management and reporting to the General Manager
  • Ensuring that the Company’s customer service benchmarks for sales, customer service and underwriting are consistently achieved & the effective marketing networks are maintained with insurance intermediaries
  • Ensuring that all Customer Service Staff meet or exceed targets and all activity standards
  • Conducting regular coaching and counseling sessions with Customer Service staff to build motivation and selling skills
  • Setting examples for staff in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits.
Requirements:
  • University graduate with a marketing background
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Sales management & Customer Relationship Management
  • Proven skills in business management and computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a staff team, multi-task and deal with crises
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and innovative and energetic attitude to work
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Experience in the Insurance Industry is an added advantage
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive sales teams
  • Polished verbal and written communication and presentation skills
