World Vision Kenya Job Opportunities

World Vision Kenya is a leading non-governmental Christian humanitarian, relief, development and advocacy organization with projects in most parts of Kenya.

We wish to urgently recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven people to fill the following positions within WV Kenya (Field-based positions).

Area Development Program (ADP) Manager

Purpose of the positions:

To mobilize, sensitize and empower the ADP community to be key implementers of their development process. To identify, plan, design budget in partnership with the ADP community while ensuring that sponsorship is effectively managed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to the Integrated ADP team
  • Develop strategies that are site specific for the implementation of developed and approved plans and budgets
  • Provide leadership skills to the community institutions (programs/projects steering committee, cluster committees and other functional committees,)
  • Promote innovative and effective systems for building core community capacities with standard indicators
  • Facilitate community based monitoring of CIP (children in program) through CBOs/FBOs and SMCs etc
  • Compile data on baselines, monitoring reports, evaluations, proposals, concept papers and file them effectively
  • Ensure that sponsorship documentation is done accurately and effectively
  • Document best practices that are replicable in other areas
  • Initiate strategic institutional collaboration with other stakeholders and partners
  • Develop a training plan for ADP staff, assess strengths, capacities, opportunities and potentials of communities and develop training plan for them
  • Represent WVK in national and international forums and networks on as need arises basis for continued learning and sharing best and promising practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in Social sciences, Agricultural sciences, management, and development studies.
  • Five years of working in community development with communities
  • At least two years either managing or in responsible position that requires decision-making without wide consultation.
  • Cross-cultural experience. Ability to develop grant proposal to support the existing development programs meet their project goals and fundraising targets. Experience in models and methods of training, facilitation and capacity building^ and organizational development.
  • Familiarity with development theory, poverty analysis and livelihood security frameworks, Participatory Rural Appraisal/Participatory Learning & Action, PEP, Appreciative Inquiry etc.
  • Computer literate: especially in word processing, spreadsheets, Internet skills, graphics and lotus notes.
  • Good communication skills in spoken verbal and written English as well as reasonable spoken Kiswahili.
  • Complete compatibility with WV's mission, ethos, policies and core values
Development Facilitators

Purpose of the positions:

These positions will report to the Integrated Area Development Program (ADP) Managers / Project Coordinators and are critical players in the implementation of World Vision Kenya's community development interventions: water and sanitation, Health and HIV & AIDS, Food Security, Education and Community mobilization among others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mobilization, sensitization and awareness creation of the community
  • Needs assessments, project identification, project planning, design, budgeting and implementation.
  • Identify the skills gap for the technical staff in ADP and the community, and develop capacity building plans.
  • Compile data on baselines, monitoring reports, evaluations, proposals, concept papers and file them effectively
  • Provide support to Sponsorship Coordinator and follow up on CIP issues
  • Review and monitor program operations against set plans
  • Oversee and analyze cluster budgets
  • Review community contributions and monitor the usage of the resources
  • Monitor and report on performance of the CBOs/FBOs CDF (community development facilitators) on CIP issues
  • Initiate strategic institutional collaboration with other stakeholders and partners Participate in collaborative meetings
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Environmental Health (Public Health), relevant sciences.
  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and influence a team
  • Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of rectitude
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database applications
  • Good knowledge in economic and financial topics
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Complete compatibility with WV's mission, ethos, policies and core values
