Managing Director Job Vacancy: The Tanganyika Farmers' Association Limited

Our client, Tanganyika Farmers' Association Limited (TFA) is a commercially managed member based farmers' organization established over 70 years ago.

The Association which has its Head Office in Arusha is structured into-a Trading Division with eleven branches countrywide and a Property Development and Management Division.

TFA has been one of the major stakeholders and most effective players within the agricultural sector in Tanzania since it commenced operations in the then Tanganyika, in 1935.

With more than 4,800 members representing a cross-section of the Tanzanian farming community, TFA is now seeking to recruit a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

Job Profile:

The Managing Director is answerable to the Board.

As the TFA's MD/CEO he/she will be responsible for the implementation of the Boards' policy decisions in a results oriented manner so as to achieve the Association's goals, objectives and agreed performance targets.

These will include:
  • Carrying out the day to day business of the Association.
  • Developing and recommending to the board the long term strategy, business plans, and annual operating budgets; and establishing internal monitoring, evaluation and control systems and procedures.
  • Coordinating and preparing the business related proposals and other submissions for consideration by the board.
  • Ensuring that there is effective communication between management and the Board as well as between different levels of management.
  • Providing leadership and fostering teamwork among all employees.
  • Generally managing in a prudent manner all the activities and functions of the corporation so as to ensure growth and sustainability.
Person Profile:
  • Preferably a Tanzanian degree holder in a relevant field from a reputable university.
  • An MBA will be an added advantage.
  • A member of professional body like CPA (T); ERB, etc.
  • A good understanding of agricultural inputs, processing and finance sectors.
  • Excellent track record of demonstratable leadership and management skills at senior level.
  • Self driven person of impeccable integrity and honesty.
  • Experience in nurturing corporate business relations with stake holders.
  • Have at least 10 years relevant experience 6 of which should be at senior management level.
  • Experience in preparing business plans.
