Clinical Research Coordinator Job Vacancy: KEMRI / USAMRU-K “The Walter Reed Project”

“The Walter Reed Project” is a Research Based Organization that is affiliated to
the Kenya Medical Research Institute.

Our mission is to develop and test improved means for predicting, detecting, preventing and treating infectious disease. The organization seeks to fill the following positions:

Position: Clinical Research Coordinator (3 positions)
Location: Walter Reed Project, Kisumu

Key Requirements:
  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in Health Related Field (Nurses or Clinical Officer)
  • At least 1 year of research experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Should be a registered member of the relevant professional body.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Involved in the development of clinical trial protocols; participates in the development of standard operating procedures, collaborates and coordinates the protocol review and approval process, to include submissions to IRBs.
  2. Oversees research technical and/or administrative activities, to include training, goal setting, and distribution of workload.
  3. Advises and train site personnel on sponsor and regulatory requirements for study conduct; participates and/or conducts study and investigator meetings.
  4. Reviews study records, case for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance; identifies deficiencies and discrepancies, and provides remedial training and/or initiates corrective action as required.
  5. Prepares reports.
This is a training position requiring highly skilled, motivated and committed individuals; the Clinical Research Coordinator will be required to work under supervision of a senior study coordinator.

Terms of Employment: Contract for 1 year renewable as per KEMRI scheme of service.

Probationary period will be the first 3 months.

Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on educational level, relevant experience and demonstrated competency
