Royal Netherlands Tuberculosis Association (KNCV) Employment Opportunities

The Royal Netherlands Tuberculosis Association (KNCV) is an international NGO supporting Tuberculosis control globally with a mission to eliminate tuberculosis through the development and implementation of effective tuberculosis control strategies.

KNCV-Kenya works closely with the Ministries of Health in the area of Tuberculosis.

We are looking for experienced individuals with excellent technical skills and highly motivated for the following positions;

Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator – TBCAP
Reports to: TBCAP Director
Location: Nairobi

Purpose
  • The position is aimed to increase and strengthen TBCAP capacity to coordinate TBCAP TB and TB/HIV activities as well as coordinate with other partners in Kenya to ensure a comprehensive response to tuberculosis.
Specific duties and responsibilities
  • Provide overall coordination of TBCAP Monitoring and Evaluation activities.
  • Provide Technical Assistance (TA) to TBCAP implementing partners, facilitate, and monitor development and implementation of project in Kenya
  • Contribute to development of annual plans of activities (APAs), ensuring alignment with project strategy, annual targets and incorporation of M&E activities in the work plan.
  • Oversee and execute M&E activities included in the annual work plan, with particular focus on results, impacts and lesson learnt
  • Promote a results-based approach to monitoring and evaluation, emphasizing results and impacts.
  • Contribute to the operational, and other forms of evaluation research agenda of the NTP
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated TBCAP progress reports for project management including identification of problems, causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation, and providing specific recommendations.
  • Guide staff and implementing partners in preparing their progress reports in accordance with approved reporting formats and ensure their timely submission.
  • Provide support to institutional and human capacity building activities at the regional, and local levels for TB-HIV activities;
  • Conduct visits to regions and districts in collaboration with the NTP to resolve problems that hinder effective and efficient implementation of interventions.
  • Assist districts in interpretation of data and presentation of results in tabular and graphic forms.
  • Identify poor performing areas/regions and provide timely TA to ensure the success of TBCAP
  • Proactively support and advice the Director in carrying out activities as required for the implementation of the project.
  • Represent TBCAP at major TB/HIV meetings and events when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in health sciences/public health
  • More than 5 years of relevant work experience preferably in the African region
  • Sound knowledge of ongoing and emerging issues in relation to TB/HIV, Community TB and MDRTB and familiarity with the scientific literature on TB/HIV/AIDS
  • Demonstrated understanding of the TB and HIV/AIDS control strategies and challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience in data analysis and preparation of technical reports
  • Formal training in TB/HIV monitoring and evaluation skills will be an added advantage
  • Excellent written, oral communication and computer skills (Ms Office, analytical packages)
Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant – TBCAP
Reports to: TBCAP M&E Coordinator
Location: Nairobi

Purpose
  • The position is aimed to increase and strengthen TBCAP capacity to report TBCAP TB and TB/HIV activities implemented by the Division of Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (DLTLD).
Specific duties and responsibilities
  • Shall be the focal person for TBCAP activities implemented by DLTLD
  • Work with DLTLD to prepare data-bases (information bases) useful for monitoring and evaluation
  • Design non-routine data collection tools whenever necessary
  • Track implementation of TBCAP project activities in relation to targets
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports in accordance with approved formats, including identification of problems, causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation, and providing specific recommendations.
  • Maintain an inventory (records) for TBCAP activity reports implemented by DLTLD
  • Provide any support required by the DLTLD Monitoring and Evaluation unit
  • Proactively support and advice the Monitoring and Evaluation coordinator in carrying out activities as required for the implementation of the project.
  • Conduct visits to regions and districts in collaboration with the NTP to resolve problems that hinder effective and efficient implementation of interventions.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned to him / her by M & E Coordinator
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned to him by Head DLTLD in consultation with TBCAP Country Director
Qualifications
  • At least a higher diploma in health sciences/public health
  • More than 3 years of relevant work experience preferably in Tuberculosis Control
  • Sound knowledge of ongoing and emerging issues in relation to TB and TB/HIV
  • Demonstrated understanding of the TB and HIV/AIDS control strategies and challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience in data analysis and preparation of technical reports
  • Formal training in TB/HIV monitoring and evaluation skills will be an added advantage
  • Excellent written, oral communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work constructively with others
  • Must be reliable and well organized with attention to detail
