World Vision Job Opportunities in Kenya

World Vision Kenya is a leading non-governmental Christian humanitarian, relief, development and advocacy organization with projects in most parts of Kenya.

We wish to urgently recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven people to fill the following positions within WV Kenya.

1. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program Officer

Purpose of the position:
  • To support the Branch Livelihood and Resilience Coordinator to successfully and timely implement Branch activities and.Interventions in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) to contribute to child wellbeing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support in implementation of Water and sanitation and Hygiene projects to ensure quality, effectiveness and timely implementation.
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate Water, Sanitation and hygiene project indicators and standards for use by all Branch IPAs including grant projects.
  • Collaborate with Ministry of Water and Irrigation and other relevant departments in providing technical support and assistance to all Branch Water, Sanitation and Hygiene projects
  • Develop timely and accurate funding proposals in line with donor requirements and WVK standards in collaboration with IPA Managers, other sector specialists and EDR Group.
  • Capacity building of staff and communities in programming and implementation of WASH projects.
  • Promote advocacy on Water, sanitation and Hygiene issues.
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, semi- annual and end of projects reports on Water and Sanitation and ensure that the reports are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with donors and WV Kenya requirements.
  • Document and disseminate best practices on Water and sanitation projects.
  • Participate in Water and Sanitation coordination and other meetings as may be required.
  • Any other relevant responsibility as may be assigned by the Branch Livelihoods and Resilience Coordinator or other relating supervisors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or Hydrogeology or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years experience in working/programming in either relief or development including managing a large scale Community based water project with evidence of successful implementation of similar project
  • Experience in project design, proposal writing, needs assessments, surveys, and information management.
  • Experience in supervising, training, and coaching staff
  • Good understanding of SPHERE and other international standards.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Lotus Notes and statistical program (e.g. SPSS).
  • Ability to conduct community WASH needs assessment, program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of WASH activities
  • Proposal/concept paper writing skills for fund raising.
2. Procurement Officer

Purpose of the position:
  • To co-ordinate the procurement of goods and services for activities of WVK ministry, with the aim of enhancing World Vision's response to customer needs, in terms of timeliness, appropriateness and effectiveness, in accordance with laid down systems, procedures and guidelines while maintaining high standards of accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review all purchase requests forms and ensure appropriateness of technical specifications, funds availability and necessary approvals have been made.
  • Prepare and send out requests for quotations to prequalified vendors as per purchase requests
  • Prepare bids analysis and pass to the technical experts for evaluation and approval before purchase orders are raised or presented to CTC.
  • Prepare the purchase orders and forward them for verification and approval
  • Follow up on issued purchase orders in liaison with stores officer to monitor progress on delivery and issue cancellation notices where necessary and re -issue new orders.
  • Assist in preparation of contracts
  • Participate in supplier evaluation by monitoring their performance
  • Participation in tender committees when called upon to do so
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • A degree in Business Administration with at least three years experience in purchasing and supplies management
  • Post graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management from a reputable institution. CIPS will be preferred.
  • Computer Literate
  • A member of KISM
  • Strong commitment to WV Values, Mission and Vision.
