Umeme Limited is a private Limited Company, wholly owned by CDC Group Plc (formerly the Commonwealth Development Corporation [CDC] of the United Kingdom) and managed by Actis.
Umeme was awarded the 20 year electricity distribution concession from March 2005. It has 25 offices spread across the country and employs over 1200 staff.
As part of our on going commitment to aligning our Corporate Governance to international standards, we are now looking for an exceptional individual to fill the newly created senior management position of Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management.
The job requires excellent management skills to lead and develop the internal audit and risk management functions providing independent assurance to the Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will report to the Umeme Audit Committee (Sub Committee of the Board) and functionally, to the Managing Director.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated person, with the ability to lead staff in the internal audit and risk teams and to work effectively across all levels of management. In addition the candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The individual should have strong judgemental and decision making skills. He/She should posses a serious demeanor and an ability to inspire confidence at all levels.
Ideally the individual should have had exposure to any of risk, accounting, audit or internal audit work at a senior level preferably with a related qualification.
