Eastern African Coordinator Job: African Civil Society Network on Water and Sanitation (ANEW)

Eastern African Coordinator
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Introduction

The African Civil Society Network on Water and Sanitation (ANEW) is an autonomous Africa-wide platform which aims to ensure that the diverse voices of African CSOs are represented and heard in the development and implementation of water and sanitation policies and plans.

ANEW is embarking on an exciting programme of growth and strengthening, supported by the European Commission and WaterAid/Freshwater Action Network.

ANEW is seeking to employ a dynamic and committed Sub Regional Coordinator, to be based at the Regional Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya which is hosted by Maji na Ufanisi.

The EA Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Overall coordination and management of ANEW activities in the region, working closely with the Executive Secretary
  • Building up relations with civil society, stakeholders, government officials and international agencies working in the region on water supply, sanitation and water resource management
  • Regular liaison with the ANEW members in the region
  • Organizing and/or attending ANEW meetings and training workshops in the region and beyond
  • Fundraising and Budget management
  • Regular activity and financial reporting.
  • Contribute to design and implementation of an advocacy capacity-building s for ANEW
  • Communicating with members and providing administrative and logistical support.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Degree in development studies, sociology, communications, or any other relevant field.
  • At least FIVE years of progressively responsible experience as a program development professional, with preference for candidates whose experience includes working with civil society networks, policy and advocacy and water and sanitation sector
  • Articulate with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of policy research and analysis methodologies
  • Experience in contract management and financial reporting
  • Ability to work with international partners and cross-culturally
  • Proven organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
  • Experience in organising participatory meetings and events
  • Computer skills, including internet use, website management, list-serves, e-bulletins.
  • Knowledge of French is added advantage
