Do you want to be associated with an exciting, dynamic and challenging new broadcasting FM station with a difference? The Ushirika Radio station targets the members of the co-operative movement in Kenya and the general public.In order to achieve this objective Kenya Rural Savings and Credit Co-operatives Societies Union Ltd seeks to recruit the following;
1. THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
This person heads the station and reports to the station Board.
Roles & Responsibilities: The CEO will be overall responsible for the running and management of the station
Qualifications: The candidate must have the following;
- Masters Degree in Communication, preferably in Electronic Media from a recognised University
- Knowledge of current trends in the media industry
- Experience in establishing a radio station
- Four years hands on experience in Electronic Media and related fields
- Knowledge of broadcast programming strategies
- Actively involved in broadcasting
- Management and management functions of planning, organizing, influencing and controlling
- Business practices such as sales and marketing, budgeting, cost controls and public relations
- The market, including the interests and needs of the audience and the business potential afforded by the target
- Competing media, the sources and amount of their revenue
- Broadcasting and allied professions such advertising agencies, programs and news services
- The station and the activities of its departments and personnel
- Broadcast laws, rules and regulations
- Contracts, particularly those dealing with programming, talent and music licensing
This person heads the technical and engineering arm of the station and reports to the CEO.
Roles & Responsibilities: The Head of Technical Service will be overall responsible for the installation, running and management of the station's technical facilities
Qualifications:
The candidate must have the following;
- Bachelors Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or a Higher National Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering or related field a recognised institution
- Hands on - five years experience in establishment and maintenance of broadcast equipment
- Knowledge of current trends in the media industry
- Experience in establishing a radio station
- Actively involved in broadcasting
- Demonstrate capacity to manage a technical team
- Broadcast Transmission laws, rules and regulations
This person heads the programming and production arm of the station and reports to the CEO.
Responsibilities: The Candidate will be in charge of both Production and Programming.
He/she will be responsible for the;
- production and acquisition of content that will appeal to the targeted audience
- Scheduling of programmes to attract the desired audience
- Managing a team composed of the traffic controller, head of news, reporters, presenters and editors.
The candidate must have the following;
- Bachelors Degree in Communication, preferably in Electronic Media from a recognised University
- Knowledge of current trends in the media industry
- Four years hands on experience in Radio broadcasting
- Knowledge of broadcast programming strategies
- The target market, including the interests and needs of the audience and the business potential afforded by the target
- Broadcasting and allied professions such advertising agencies, programs and news services
- Broadcast laws, rules and regulations
- Contracts, particularly those dealing with programming, talent and music licensing
This person heads the Finance and Accounts Department of the station and reports to the CEO.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Accountant will be overall responsible
- For setting up the finance and accounts function of the station
- Maintenance of books of accounts
- Payroll management and staff compensation transaction execution
- Prepare monthly and annual budget analysis for presenting and review by management
- Maintenance of the fixed assets register and accounting for fixed assets movement
- Review and reconcile the work in progress accounts
The candidate must have the following;
- Bachelors Degree in Commerce -Accounting Option from a recognised university
- Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA - K) certification or ACCA qualification
- Hands on - five years relevant experience in a busy accounting environment
- Computer literacy in accounting packages
The candidate will report to the CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support for the office
- Organize meetings, including travel and accommodation
- Assist with basic financial procedures including data entry
- Assist with procurement and asset management
- A Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent from a recognised institution. A Bachelors Degree preferred,
- Practical working knowledge of computers ( MS Word, MS excel)
- Superior organizational skills
- Written and spoken fluency in English and Kiswahili
- At least 3 working years experience
