The Royal Netherlands Tuberculosis Association (KNCV) wishes to recruit someone to fill the following position;
Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer - TBCAP (1 post)
Reports to: Senior Technical Advisor (STA)
Location: Nairobi
Purpose
The position is aimed to increase and strengthen TBCAP capacity to coordinate TBCAP TB, TB/HIV and Community TB activities as well as coordinate with other partners in Kenya to ensure a comprehensive response to tuberculosis. The officer will work from Division of TB, Leprosy and lung disease and KNCV offices.
Specific duties and responsibilities
- Provide TA, facilitate, and monitor development and implementation of TBCAP project in Kenya
- Proactively support and advice the STA in carrying out activities as required for implementation of TBCAP.
- Contribute to development of annual work plan, ensuring alignment with project strategy, annual targets and inclusion of M&E activities in the work plan.
- Oversee and execute M&E activities included in the annual work plan, with particular focus on results, impacts and lesson learning
- Promote a results-based approach to monitoring and evaluation, emphasizing results and impacts.
- Prepare consolidated progress reports for project management including identification of problems, causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation, and providing specific recommendations.
- Guide staff and executing partners in preparing their progress reports in accordance with approved reporting formats and ensure their timely submission.
- Provide support to institutional and human capacity building activities at the regional, and local levels for TB-HIV and Community TB care activities;
- Conduct visits to regions and districts on request of National TB Control Programs to resolve problems that hinder effective and efficient implementation of interventions.
- Represent TBCAP at major TB/HIV meetings and events in the absence of Senior Technical Advisor.
- Assist districts in interpretation of data and presentation of results in tabular and graphic forms.
- Identify poor performing districts and provide timely TA to ensure success of TBCAP
- Advanced degree in health sciences/public health with a bias to biostatistics
- More than 5 years of relevant work experience preferably in the African region
- Sound knowledge of ongoing and emerging issues in relation to TB/HIV, Community TB and MDRTB and familiarity with the scientific literature on TB/HIV/AIDS
- Demonstrated understanding of the TB and HIV/AIDS control challenges.
- Demonstrable experience in data analysis and preparation of technical reports
- Formal training in TB/HIV monitoring and evaluation skills will be an added advantage
- Excellent written, oral communication and computer skills (Ms Office, analytical packages)
