Job Description
This five star luxury game lodge, located in the Serengeti, is recruiting'for the senior position of Technical Services Manager, who will oversee the maintenance of the property - In the form of its water Supply, electricity supply, sewage system, lodges, staff villages, back of house and Support service areas, estate maintenance, road repair and building team, construction projects, and refuse recycling/removal.
The Technical Services Manager ensures that the lodges are provided with an un interrupted and effective level of operational service which enables them to achieve their goals.
Specifically the position entails the following :-
- Manages an Estate Manager, Workshop Manager, Maintenance Manager and a team of supervisors and staff, numbering approximately 75 in total, dedicated to the maintenance of the property:
- Has a strategic understanding of company requirements and plans for the phased purchase of essential replacement and Improvements as regard assets, and budgets for the maintenance of the property as whole: oversees and authorizes all spending against the technical budgets;
- Manages a reporting, logging and costing system that ensures he is fully Informed about the divisional needs for Maintenance:
- Manages the estate maintenance team, in terms of security fence maintenance, grass slashing, refuse separated and removal
- Manages the water supply system, which includes borehole, booster pump and extended distance pipe maintenance; servicing of the softener and filtration plants; reservoir treatment and management; water supply management in the form of rationing during dry periods;
- Manage the electricity supply, which includes connection to the national power grid; servicing of multiple, large-scale generator units and automatic change over switches; and maintenance of extended distance high tension cabling;
- Oversee small scale building projects, and the road repair and building team
- Hold a degree in either Civil or Mechanical enginering, and be familiar with quantity surveying:
- Have a thorough technical knowledge and understanding of services, operations and equipment;
- Have a minimum of ten years previous experience in a similar-scale operation;
- Have sound business sense, abilities and initiative, and the ability to plan strategically;
- Be able to negotiate building tenders, manage projects and be familiar with the princples of construction
- Be fully conversant with the rigours of specialized procurement;
- Be an effective manager of people and willing to share knowledge and grow subordinates; be a good communicator, upward and downwards;
- Be efficient and personally well organized, and assertive but polite;
- Have high energy levels, and be flexible and responsive;
- Be thoroughly computer literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Must be fully experienced in managing a large and diverse fleet of vehicle!;
- Be comfortable living and working in a remote environment;
- Tanzanian nationality would be advantageous.
