Head of Administration DED-Juba

1. Brief information about DED

The German Development Service (DED) is an international active agency for development, financed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. DED is working in the Sudan since 1979. It is mainly a personnel sending agency, attaching German experts to different organisations in the Sudan to support development endeavours. On top of it DED supports indigenous NGOs in building up their organisational structure and supports local experts to be attached to different institutions and organisations. DED has two offices in the Sudan: one is situated in Khartoum Amarat, the second office in Juba (Southern Sudan).

For the Office in Juba DED wants to employ an administrator who can work as the Head of Administration proofing able after an introduction and probation period which starts with immediate effect.

2. Expected Qualifications of Applicants for the Position

  • University Degree in Administration including book keeping and account management
  • At least three years professional experience in administrative or related work
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Basic knowledge of Arabic
  • Computer literacy (especially Excel)
  • Willingness to learn German language
  • Driving license
  • Sudanese Citizenship

3. Duties to be fulfilled in the Position as Head of Administration

  • Local staff administration (Work planning, Supervision, Payments, Contracts, organization of staff meetings, calculating dues of local staff Personal files administration etc.)
  • Finance monitoring (at least monthly check of budget situation, following budget regulations of DED, budget management in cooperation with country director)
  • Accounting – Bookkeeping (preparing of vouchers, cash control, account for and book in electronic bookkeeping system costs and income, control advance payments, taking stock of purchased goods)
  • Banking business (control and administration of several different accounts,)
  • Liaisons (keep contacts and liaise with government departments and institutions)

4. Working Conditions:

DED will provide:

  • a fully equipped working place in its offices in Juba
  • training and introduction to the work during probation period (in Khartoum)
  • further training courses if need arises
  • unlimited working contract according to Sudanese Labour Law
  • paid leave of 20 working days per year
  • monthly salary of 2,500 SDG during the probation period which will increase by up to 50% (according to performance) after taking over the responsibilities as Head of Administration fully

DED expects its employees:

  • To participate and to merge actively within the team
  • To participate at all DED meetings and to represent DED upon assignment in the public and governmental institutions
  • To keep committed to the DED regulations and working schedule ( from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week)
  • At all times to protect the interests of DED in every respect and throughout the duration of the contract and also after its termination to maintain complete secrecy about facts and circumstances which have come to your knowledge during the apprenticeship
