Barclays Bank Uganda is a member of the Barclays PLC Croup, one of the world's leading multinational banks. We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer to lead and manage the Operations function, which is critical to the success of our business.
With reporting lines to the Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer at the Regional Head Office, the position entails:
- Leading and developing an integrated Chief Operating Office covering Change/Project Management, Operations and Information Technology, and leveraging operations expertise to innovate more efficient ways of working.
- Taking accountability for the aggregate plan and delivery of systems, operations and the general operating model in-country.
- Contributing to the in-country leadership with dedicated and singular focus on seamless operational execution and delivery.
- Representing the COO function on the Country Management Committee (CMC) and ensuring the correct specialist knowledge is brought to bear on the Committee's deliberations.
- Ensuring strategic objectives are translated into tactical delivery in-country, with mechanisms for key measurements in place to monitor progress. Developing a view of change across the country and ensuring delivery and embedding of benefits.
- Directing the effective operational management of the Operations, Information Technology and Change functions in-country to agreed service and cost targets.
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and peers on the Country Management Committee and at Croup to ensure correct focus.
- Leading, inspiring and coaching a team of high calibre professionals, creating effective succession to key roles and enhancing the in-country management capability. Living Croup behaviours and inspiring others to work together to achieve the strategic vision.
- A first University Degree
- A Masters Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, IT, Finance or Risk.
- Experience of operations management at a senior level, preferably In a financial institution
- Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Commercial acumen
- Stakeholder and customer relationship management capabilities
- Leadership and people management experience
- A track record of delivery of successful risk and change management, and embedding of associated benefits
