- The position will be within the GTZ IS Southern Sudan Infrastructure Development Program
- The Specialist shall undertake all activities related to the technical implementation of water conservation and water supply projects within the Infrastructure Development Program
The principal tasks are listed below:
· Identification of suitable sites and design of small water conservation structures such as dams, surface water collection reservoirs, concrete weirs, sub-surface dams etc
· Preparation of Bills of Quantities for the structures
· Supervision of Construction, either by Contractors or by In House Teams
· Preparation of Method Statements for construction of Water Conservation Structures
· Ensuring Quality Control during construction -
o Relevant soil and compaction tests
o Permeability tests
o Concrete testing
· Design and construction of basic rural water treatment plants
· Design of water reticulation systems
· Attending regular progress meetings with clients and funding agencies
All activities are to be done in close cooperation with the Engineers from the GOSS Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation with emphasis to train the Ministry’s Engineers in this particular field of water technology.
In addition the Specialist may support the Sudanese Contractors in various fields of construction technology and introduce computer aided survey and mass calculation techniques.
