Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) Vacancies in Kenya

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), an international nongovernmental organization working in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights, requires to fill three positions in its Africa Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya. These are:-
1. Associate Regional Director, Advocacy
2. Associate Regional Director, Service Delivery
3. Program Officer  
1. Associate Regional Director - Advocacy  
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Associate Regional Director, Advocacy will be responsible for providing leadership in crafting advocacy strategies and plans for the region, developing and implementing a regional communications plan and managing advocacy projects in the region.
This is a full time senior position. The position is available immediately and is open to non-Kenyans. However, preference will be given to applicants with residence status in Kenya.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the Africa Regional Advocacy Program, working closely with Advocacy Program Manager, the country team leaders and program officers.
Works with the Africa Regional Director to develop and implement the regional operational plan, and contribute to improving systems and functioning of the advocacy programs in the focus countries.
Works with the country team leaders to identify country advocacy needs and in conceptualization of new projects, design, implementation, and long term viability of the advocacy programs.
Contributes to regional effort to improve program visibility by leading country teams to document and disseminate information about regional advocacy initiatives, including drafting donor documents.
Supervises select regional program staff.
Represents the regional office throughout the region and internationally.  
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Master's degree in public health, health administration, international development, social sciences or related field required.
Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible advocacy, project planning, designing, monitoring and evaluation preferably with a reproductive health and rights focus in addition to financial management experience in the region.
Related Skills or Knowledge: Strong writing, editing, analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, facilitation and training, teambuilding, networking, and problem-solving skills. Proven skills in project development, budget management and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word). In addition, knowledge of reproductive health rights issues in the region, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and knowledge and sensitivity about cultural diversity are key.
Other Requirements: Ability to travel minimum of 40% time. Fluent in written and spoken English. French, Swahili, Arabic or other regionally spoken language desirable. Knowledge of diverse groups and working with a multicultural workforce and sensitivity to cultural differences is required. The candidate should possess strong interest in international human and women’s rights and commitment to the empowerment of women.  
2. Associate Regional Director - Service Delivery  
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Associate Regional Director, Service Delivery is responsible for leading and managing the Africa Regional Office’s service delivery programs.
This is a full time senior position. The position is available immediately and is open to non-Kenyans. However, preference will be given to applicants with residence status in Kenya.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the Africa Regional Service Delivery Program, working closely with the Service Delivery Program Manager, the country team leaders and program officers.
Works with the Africa Regional Director to develop and implement the regional operational plan and contribute to improving systems and functioning of the service delivery programs in the focus countries.
Provides support to regional staff in the development, implementation, and long-term viability of PPFA’s client-centered sexual and reproductive health and rights projects.
Facilitates the improvement, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of service delivery so that PPFA’s partners in the Africa Region can carry out their respective missions through monitoring and technical assistance to assigned projects.
Contributes to regional effort to improve program quality, coherence, and visibility by leading country teams, developing and implementing strategies to document and disseminate information about regional service delivery program models, drafting donor documents, developing new projects, and training staff.

3. Program Officer  
Under the direction of the Associate Regional Director for Service Delivery, the program officer is responsible for managing the Kenya and Ethiopia programs.
This is a full time position and is available immediately.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Works with partners in Kenya and Ethiopia to design, develop and implement projects that provide quality, client-centered sexual and reproductive health services or advance sexual and reproductive rights. Provides overall program monitoring and evaluation through reports and on-site visits, and tailors technical assistance trainings to ensure the achievement of project goals in technical, project management, financial, and commodity-related issues.
Works with partners to develop and plan strategies specific to each project for ongoing improvements. Identifies, develops, adapts, translates and facilitates appropriate training and technical support in sexual and reproductive health. When necessary will coordinate with regional staff, consultants, PPFA, or other international collaborating agencies in order to provide specialized technical training.
Monitors assigned projects through analyses of financial reports, tracking of project progress and ongoing correspondence with partners. Evaluates projects through data analysis and assessments with participation of partners. Uses analytical problem solving to find systematic approaches to solutions.
In collaboration with the Associate Regional Director for Service Delivery, prepares reports, including project reports, donor reports and refunding donor proposals.
Assists in the adaptation and translation of instruments for evaluation purposes.
Writes articles and abstracts for publication and presents at conferences on behalf of PPFA and country partners in order to raise visibility and to develop a greater understanding of our work.
Collaborates with the Associate Regional Directors for Service Delivery and Advocacy to identify new opportunities for new projects and develop new project proposals. Makes contacts and communicates with other agencies working in SRH to identify new opportunities, exchange information, maintain cordial relations in order to maintain visibility of PPFA’s international work and broaden personal understanding of the current level of services provided in country.
Provides orientation to new staff in both the office and field in PPFA systems and procedures and collaborates with other regional staff for backstopping and other technical support of projects.
Stays updated on relevant issues to PPFA’s projects.
Completes special projects as assigned and required.  
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Master’s Degree, advanced degree, or related number of years of experience, in public health, international development, sociology or related field required.
Experience: Three to five years of experience in project planning, designing, monitoring and evaluation, preferably with a reproductive health and rights focus. Experience in reproductive health service delivery and program management. Preference will be given to candidates with NGO experience and experience working in multi-sector programs.
Skills or Related Knowledge: Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to synthesize information and generate persuasive and clear verbal and written communications; Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines with a keen attention to detail and follow through; Self-directed; Able to anticipate, prioritize, and manage tasks. 4  
Excellent written and oral communication skills; Must demonstrate good interpersonal and negotiation skills, in addition to ability to work autonomously, using good decision making and computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet and statistical analysis applications). Analytical problem solving using systematic approaches to analyze and propose solutions is part of everyday activities, and cultural sensitivity is imperative. Knowledge of reproductive health issues.
Other Requirements: Ability to travel a minimum of 35% of time within the country and outside the country.
Salary: A competitive package commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered for these positions.
