NRC is a Norwegian NGO promoting and protecting the rights of people
who have been forced to flee their homes due to war or conflict. We
are seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill a vacant
position supervising multiple construction projects in Central
Equatoria, mostly in Juba.
Duties and Responsibilities
• To ensure that the construction work allocated follows common and
agreed standards and report any deviancies of acceptable quality to
the supervisor.
• To inform promptly the supervisor of important facts such as: delays
in the implementation of the work (in accordance with the work
schedule attached to each project document), the security situation,
material supply, quality of the tools used etc.
• To support the building teams in planning of site activities. Keep
written reports, complete Requisitions Forms and other site
construction documents. Submit documents as directed by the
supervisor.
• Submit work plans and reports as requested by the supervisor
• Take responsibility for any tools, vehicles, communication equipment
provided by NRC.
• Adhere to all additional information attached to the Job
Description.
• Assist with any other task requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience Required
• All employees of the Norwegian Refugee Council should adhere to our
Codes of Conduct and the four organizational values: Dedicated,
innovative, inclusive and accountable.
• Diploma in civil engineering and/or proven extensive experience in
construction supervision (preferably including structural, sanitary
and electrical work)
• Practical experience in construction
• Valid Sudanese Identification card and motorcycle licence
• Fluency in local languages, as well as English (both written and
spoken)
• Familiarity with the modalities of International NGOs is an
advantage
• Must be highly reliable, mature, and able to work independently as
well as in a team
• Proven communication, interpersonal, representation, negotiation and
leadership skills
• High-level competency in computer skills (common Microsoft Windows
and Office applications)
• Proven skills and experience in report writing
