Impact Research and Development Organization Jobs in Kisumu, Kenya

VANCANCIES 
Impact Research and Development Organization is a national NGO based in Kisumu. Its principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities. We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following positions available from October 2010. 
Programs Officer
Assist the director in discharging his/her duties, coordinate preparation and operationalization of work plans for the various programs under IRDO.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Public Health or a related field.  PhD qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Must have over 3 years’ experience in running programs in a large set-up.
  • Excellent writing skills. Proof of writing is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages.
 Human Resources Manager
Provide Human Resource Services to the organization and oversee the implementation of organizational policies.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Human Resources Management.
  • Over 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Must be a registered member of a professional body.
  • Must have sound knowledge of the new labour laws.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, decision making skills and proficiency in computer application packages.
 Data Manager
Supervise data collection, cleaning, entry and analyze data.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in statistics.
  • Over 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to analyze data using SPSS, STATA or SAS statistical application softwares.
  • Excellent knowledge of Ms. Access and Ms. Excel
  • Good report writing skills.
 Data Officers (5 positions)
Oversee data collection, cleaning and entry within the district; analyze data and write reports.
Minimum requirements
  • Must have a degree in Statistics or Computer Science.
  • 1 year’s experience in a similar position.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Ms. Access and Ms. Excel and SPSS, SAS, STATA statistical packages or its equivalent.
 Data Clerks (5 positions)
Assist in data cleaning, entry, analysis and produce reports.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have a diploma in Information Technology.
  • 1 year’s experience in a similar position.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Ms. Access and Ms. Excel and SPSS, SAS, STATA statistical packages or its equivalent.
 Senior Accountants (2 positions)
Handle financial expenditure and report on the same, and prepare budgets.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance Option.  Masters degree in Accounting or finance is an added advantage.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant.
  • 3 years’ experience in an NGO setting.
  • Good knowledge of Accounting software and Microsoft Office Packages.
 Accounts Assistants (5 positions)
Oversee the disbursement of project funds within the district.
Minimum requirements
  • Must be CPA finalist.
  • 1 year’s experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and accounting packages.
Accounts Clerks (2 positions)
Manage petty cash and make payments for all program activities.
Minimum Requirements:
  • CPA 1 a must.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Accounting application packages.
  • Ability to work under pressure.


 
HTC Coordinator
Oversee all HTC activities in all the districts of operation.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Higher National Diploma in Counseling.
  • Must have been trained on HTC Supervision.
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
 Field Coordinator
Coordinate HBHTC community entry, mobilization and sensitization activities; and handle administrative duties as well.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have a bachelors degree in Social Sciences or any other related field.
  • Over 1 year’s experience in a similar position in a busy health set-up.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Must be pleasant, able to communicate well and proficient in Computer Application packages.
 HTC Counselors (70 positions)
Provide HIV Testing and Counseling Services in the districts of operation.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have VCT training from NASCOP accredited facilities.
  • Must have been trained on Home Based HTC.
  • Over 1 year’s experience in a similar position in a busy health set-up.
  • Must have valid driving license and must be able to use a motorcycle in the field.
 Security Guards (18 positions)
Provide security to the organization’s premises.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a form four candidate. 
  • Must have worked as a security officer in a busy organization.
  • Must be vigilant, trustworthy and good communicator.
 Transport Manager
Oversee management and scheduling of vehicles under IRDO
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have valid driving license and Grade I in Mechanics.
  • 3 years’ experience in fleet management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages.



 
Drivers (16 positions)
Carry service providers and materials to the field including clients
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have valid driving license.
  • Must have driven for over 5 years accident free.
  • Mechanics training is an added advantage.
 Administrative Assistants (7 positions)
Manage front office operations within the district.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Business Management.
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar position in a busy organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Must be pleasant and have good communication skills.
 Office Assistants (8 positions)
Clean offices and run errands for the program.
Minimum requirements:
  • Must be form four candidate.
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar position in a busy organization.
  • Must be honest, pleasant and able to multitask.
 Stores Officer
Managing the inventory in the stores.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Supplies Management.
  • Over 2 years’ experience in a large organization.
  • Must be of high integrity.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages.
 Pharmaceutical Technologist
Dispense drugs to clients within the district.
Minimum Requirement:
  • Must have a diploma in pharmacy.
  • Must be registered with Kenya Drugs and Poisons Board.
  • Must have pleasant personality, good communication skills, fluency in English, Kiswahili and Dholuo.
 Administrative Officers (6 positions)
Oversee activities within the district and manage logistics.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have a diploma in Business Management or any other related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in running a busy office.
  • Must have good organization and decision making skills.
 Male Circumcision Roll- Out Coordinator
Oversee VMMC activities in the districts of operation, provide technical support and prepare reports.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Public Health or any relevant field.
  • Good Knowledge of Public Health issues especially HIV/AIDS.
  • 3 years’ experience in running a similar program.
  • Must be able to write reports.
  • Must pay attention to details.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages.
 Clinical Manager
Provide technical support to VMMC teams and oversee Quality Assurance activities. In addition provide technical advice to the HIV care and treatment component of the program.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Medicine and Bachelors degree in Surgery.
  • Must have 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Must be able to train VMMC staff to maintain the set standards.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in computer application packages.
  • Experience with HIV care, treatment and support services
 Male Circumcision Social and Communications Officer
Coordinate mobilization of MC clients within the districts of operation.
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in social sciences or health related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
 VMMC District Mobilizers (5 positions)
Coordinate creation of  demand for VMMC services within the district.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Certificate in Social Work.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to educate and sensitize the community on VMMC.




 
Hygiene Officers (21 positions)
Responsible for infection prevention in VMMC theatres.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Certificate in Nurse Aide.
  • Must have been trained on infection prevention.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
 Field Coordinator (Alcohol and Substance Abuse)
Coordinate intervention activities targeting Alcohol users and most at risk populations.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or health related field.
  • Certificate training on Drugs and Substance Abuse from a recognized institution.
  • Must have 2 years’ experience in HIV prevention among Alcohol and substance abusers.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, proven supervisory skills, fluency in Dholuo, Kiswahili and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, report writing and presentation skills.
 Addiction Counselors (6 positions)
Offer counseling services to alcohol and substance abusers.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have VCT training from NASCOP recognized institutions.
  • Must have been trained on Drugs and Substance Abuse from a recognized institution.
  • Over 1 year’s experience in a similar position in a busy health set-up.
  • Good communication skills.
 Field Assistants (2 positions)
Supervise outreach workers.
Minimum requirements:
  • Certificate in Social Work and Community Development.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good communication and organization skills
 PwP Coordinator
Coordinate support group activities and supervise referrals.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Social work and community development.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Must be one who is living positively with HIV/AIDS.
  • Good communication skills and proficient in computer application packages.



 
Clinical Officers (21 positions)
Provide treatment and care to HIV positive clients, manage Sexually Transmitted Infections and opportunistic infections and provide HIV treatment and care services
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery.
  • Must have been train on adult and pediatric ART.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
 Nurse Counselors (21 positions)
Assist clinical officers with surgeries. In addition, provide ART care and treatment services to HIV positive clients.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Nursing.
  • Must have been train on adult and pediatric ART.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
 Post Test Facilitators (3 positions)
Provide peer counseling and drug adherence to reactive youth.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Certificate in Counseling.
  • 2 years’ experience in a busy health facility.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
 Intervention coordinators (4 positions)
Oversee coordination of intervention activities targeting the following sectors: Public Transport and Juakali, plantation workers, Fishing and Beach Communities.  
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences from recognized institutions.
  • 2 years’ experience handling one of the targeted groups in a large organization.
  • Must be able to write well.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in computer application packages.
 Linkages and Referral Coordinator
Coordinate referral of HIV positive patients to care and support centres; while those who are HIV negative are referred for other HIV prevention interventions.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or health related field.
  • Must have good knowledge on public health issues especially HIV and AIDS.
  • 3 years’ experience in coordinating such a program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Outreach Workers (20 positions)
Carry out community mobilization and sensitization on alcohol and substance abuse and mobilize alcohol and substance abusers for treatment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a form four leaver.
  • Must have served for 2 years in a similar position in a rehabilitation centre.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
