CMDRR Trainer (short-term/ consultant)- DETRA- Africa



Development Training and Research Associates- DETRA- Africa (http://www.detra-africa.org) is a Capacity Building, Research and Consultancy Organization based in Kenya but undertaking activities for clients in Africa, Asia and Middle East. DETRA-Africa has over the years been a leader in providing training and capacity building solutions to other organizations and the private sector across the developing world. The organization has a team of dedicated staff and associates across the world to meet the growing demand for its services. 
In line with this we have received a request from one of our clients to facilitate training on Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction in East Africa. We are therefore looking to hire the services of an experienced CMDRR Trainer for a 15 days assignment.
Title: CMDRR Trainer
Location: East Africa
Qualifications - Minimum of Master degree in the social science.
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in coordination with NGOs and/or donor organizations.

-Experience in Training and facilitation of CMDRR in the region.
-Experience in building the capacity of organizations and community institutions like Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) committees in CMDRR.
- Understanding of Community Management Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR) strategies. This will include risk assessment and risk reduction planning.
- One should have understanding and abilities of motivating community groups and an excellent understanding of participatory methodologies and tools.
- Familiar with pastoralism development issues.
- Understanding and experience in the inclusion of cross cutting issues in programming i.e. gender, HIV/AIDS, environmental issues.
- Excellent communication, presentation, administration and organization skills.
- Excellent in English speaking and reporting.
- Ability to work in a team, willingness for multi-tasking, willingness to travel.
- Result oriented, Pro-active and inventive.
