In East Africa, our programmes focus on community based animal health services, training centers for mid-level animal health workers and sustainable natural resource utilisation.

Position Title: Assistant Livestock Business Officer
Project: Food Agribusiness and Rural Markets (FARM) Program
Duty Station: Central and Eastern Equatoria- Southern Sudan

Role

The Assistant Livestock Business Officer will participate in the implementation of Livestock Market and Economic diversification activities.

The Assistant Livestock Business Officer will report to the Livestock Business/ Marketing Advisor.

Main Responsibilities

• Participate the implementation of livestock marketing and economic diversification activities in conjunction with the Livestock Business advisor.
• Participate in the development of a livestock business marketing program
• Assist the Business Livestock advisor in carrying out livestock marketing studies
• Participate in activities that identify gaps in the marketing of livestock and alternative products
• Assist in the facilitation of community training workshops on all essential business/marketing needs.
• Participate in trainining traders, women groups, stockowners , CAHWs on business and management skills
• Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the successes and failures of the marketing systems and provide timely interventions.
• Participate in establishing a livestock marketing system in all project areas in collaboration with other actors in the region.
• Assist in carrying out field assignments as per plans set
• Assist in organizing community dialogues and needs assessment

Essential or Minimum Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Business development studies, rural development, development planning or relevant field.
• Qualification in marketing will be desirable

Knowledge and experience

• At least 3 years experience in agribusiness/project development in South Sudan, East Africa.
• Experience in capacity building
• Knowledge in marketing and agribusiness
• Work experience in conflict or post-conflict areas
• Knowledge of a local language would be desirable.
