The Heinrich Böll Foundation (HBF) is a political foundation affiliated to the Green
Party in Germany.
HBF’s Regional Office for East & the Horn of Africa, based in Nairobi, conducts and
supports civic educational projects in the areas of ecology, gender democracy and
promotion of peace throughout the region.
HBF Nairobi offers an employment opportunity for a

FINANCE OFFICER / ACCOUNTANT
for its EU-cofunded Somalia/Somaliland Programme
We are looking for a highly-qualified and motivated individual with proven training and
at least five years’ work experience in accounting.
Based in Nairobi, but with frequent travel to Somalia/Somaliland, the Finance Officer /
Accountant will provide strategic financial leadership and management of the highest
standards and will be responsible for the provision of efficient and effective accounting
services for the EU-cofunded Somalia programme.
Requirements include: Degree in Accounting; knowledge of financial management
systems (financial policies for budgets, cash management, grant and donor
accounting, project auditing, and accounting/financial reporting); managing contracts
for a variety of consultants, staff and partner capacity building; and ensuring
compliance with established and appropriate policies of HBF and donors relevant to
the program.
Experience in financial management of projects funded by the European Union would
be a great asset. Knowledge of and experience in the use of the Navision accounting
software would be an added advantage.
The position depends on EU funding received by HBF Nairobi (expected to start by 1st
December, 2008) and is thus limited to a three-years’ period.
