District Medical Officer (DMO) Job vacancy

A consortium of international NGOs working in Somalia offers a challenging opportunity for self directed and highly motivated person for the position of a District Medical Officer, based in Somalia. Only those who meet the criteria below need to apply.

The position: Responsible for management of all aspects of the District Health system, including all preventive and curative services and skills development activities.

Competencies: An experienced medical and surgical doctor with a minimum of three years experience as a District Medical Officer (DMO), with at least one year of administrative or managerial responsibilities. Should be willing and able to guide and train local staff and should expect to work as the sole doctor for extended periods of time. Should be a good communicator as well as having basic computer skills.

Must have at least MB ChB or its equivalent from a recognised University and must be confidently able to perform basic emergency surgery. Post graduate public health knowledge / expertise and ability to speak Somali is desirable. Should have a valid passport and health documents.
