Field Operations Assistant, GS-5 (Fixed Term)

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates who are Kenyan Nationals to fill the above post on a Fixed Term Appointment in the Field Operations and Emergency Section of UNICEF Kenya Country Office.



Purpose of Post: To provide assistance and support to the Emergency Programme within its role of overall coordination, programme implementation, monitoring of interventions and support to the Zonal Offices.



Major Duties and Responsibilities:



1) Assist the Field Operations and Emergency Section in its role of supporting Emergency Programme planning, implementation and monitoring through the Programme.

2) Manage shelter, NFIs and Coordination of programme in PROMs. Manage TAs for Field Operations Sections and all field based.

3) Assist in managing and guiding the field staff based in the two Zonal Offices i.e. Garissa and Kisumu but as well as most possible

temporary field offices related to emergency response.

4) Interact and coordinate with the other sectors/sections like CSD, PPAC, Education and Child Protection section in regard of EPRP.

5) Assist with the monitoring of emergency PBA utilization and expenditure in PROMs.

6) Undertake visits to Zonal Offices and other UNICEF projects sites to assess local conditions and resources and monitor

UNICEF inputs.

7) Assist in monitoring programme implementation, through keeping records, filling of all reports from the field and up-dating database of contacts.

8) Maintain an appropriate centralized filing system for section to support programme monitoring, planning and implementation.

9) Prepare documents, keep notes and undertake follow-up actions for the Section as may be required.

10) Assist in collecting data and information for report writing.

11) Supports Emergency logistics activities when required.

12) Assist Country Offices’ focal points for overall UN and GOK Emergency Preparedness and Response and Coordinator (UNDAF’s specific output.



Required Qualifications: Completion of secondary education, although preference will be given to applicants with further qualifications.



Experience: Five (5) relevant work experience involving record keeping. Experience with NGO or international development organization would be an advantage.



Language: Fluency in English and Kiswahili.



Skills: Ability to work in stressful environment and meet strict deadlines and ability to work as a team.
