The Judicial Service Commission wishes to fill the following vacancy positions.

POSITION: RESIDENT MAGISTRATE (25 POSTS)
TERMS OF SERVICE: PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE
SALARY SCALE: KSHS.35,275x1100 - 36,375x1287 - 37,662x1486 - 39,148x1687 - 40,835x2042 - 42,877 PER MONTH


STATION: VARIOUS


REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST

For appointment to this post, an applicant must be in possession of the following minimum qualifications:

(i) A law degree from any Public University in Kenya or any other recognized University,

(ii) A Diploma from the Kenya School of Law or an exemption by the Council of Legal Education.
(iii) Admission to the Roll of Advocates,
(iv) Applicants from Private Practice and other organizations must have three (3) years
relevant experience,
(v) Serving District Magistrates II who have a combined experience of three (3) years in
Private Practice and on the Bench may also apply
(vi) Must have demonstrated administrative skills, professional competence and
integrity in work performance and results,
(vii) Must not have any pending complaint with the Advocates Complaints Commission
or the Disciplinary Committee,
(viii) Those in private practice must be in possession of a current Practising Certificate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidates will be posted to any station in the country.

Specific duties will include:-
(i) Presiding over a District Magistrate's Court in any part of Kenya with jurisdiction as
stipulated in various statutes in matters of criminal or civil nature;

(ii) Supervising court registries and staff; or

(iii) Performing the duties of a Deputy Registrar of the High Court;

(iv) Carrying out a wide range of administrative functions for those heading stations.

Interested candidates should.complete forms JSC 2 in triplicate. Those from the Public Service including serving judicial officers should complete JSC 2A in triplicate, forwarding the original through their heads of department. The copy and triplicate copy should be forwarded by the applicant directly to:
