Kenyatta University wishes to recruit qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the following vacant positions.
MAIN, MOMBASA AND KITUI CAMPUSES
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
Applicants are invited for teaching positions in the following Departments at Mombasa and Main Campuses.
Applicants are advised to indicate their preferred campus: -
1.ACCOUNTING & FINANCE DEPARTMENT:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Marketing
- Business Law
- Human Resource Management
- Strategic Management
- International Business Management
- Actuarial Sciences and Insurance Management Information Systems
- Project Management and Evaluation Statistics and Operation Management
- Supply Chain Management
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
- Have at least twelve (12) years of University teaching, five (5) of which as Associate Professor.
- Have successfully supervised at least four (A) Masters students or two (2) PhD students since being appointed Associate Professor.
- Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals or two (2) articles in refereed journals plus one (1) book by a reputable publisher since being appointed Associate Professor.
- Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or workshops.
- Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
- Have at least eight (8) years of University teaching, four (4) of which as a full-time Senior Lecturer.
- Have successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students or two (2) PhD students since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
- Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals or two (2) articles in refereed journals plus one (1) book by a reputable publisher since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
- Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or workshops.
- Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition the applicant must:
- Have at least five (5) years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full-time Lecturer after PhD qualification.
- Have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters students or one (1) PhD student since being appointed Lecturer.
- Show evidence of continuing research including having published at least three (3) articles in refereed journals or one (1) refereed book in the candidate's area of specialization published by recognized publisher, since being appointed
- Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.
- Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
- Holders of a Master's degree in the relevant area may also be considered.
- They must demonstrate exemplary research, teaching and academic leadership.
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university or have registered for PhD. In addition the applicants must:
- Have presented at least three (3) seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals or a university level book by a reputable publisher.
- Have full time university teaching experience as tutorial fellow or assistant lecturer for at least three (3) years.
- Holders of a Master's degree in the relevant area may also be considered.
- They must posses a Bachelor's degree of at least Upper Second Class or its equivalent in the relevant area.
- Possession of professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Applicants must be holders of a Master's degree in the relevant area from a recognized university. In addition they must:
- Have at least two (2) years university teaching experience.
- Be holders of a Bachelor's degree of at least Upper Second Class or its equivalent in the relevant area
- Possession of a relevant professional qualification and or having been registered for a PhD will be an added advantage.
SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
LECTURERS
Applicants are invited for Lecturer position in the following courses at Kitui Campus:-
- Kiswahili
- Literature in English
- Sociology
In addition the applicants must:
- Have presented at least three (3) seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals or a university level book by a reputable publisher.
- Have full time university teaching experience as tutorial fellow or assistant lecturer for at least three (3) years.
SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES
PROFESSOR
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in a relevant Pharmaceutical Science from a recognized University.
In addition the applicant must:
- Have at least twelve (12) years of University teaching at Lecturer level and above, at least five (5) years as an
- Have successfully supervised at least four (4) students including two (2) PhD since being appointed Associate
- Show evidence of continuing Research including having published at least four (4) articles in refereed journals or two (2) articles in refereed journals plus one (1) book by a reputable publisher since being appointed Associate Professor.
- Show evidence of active research including proposal writing and attracting research grants.
- Show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in a relevant Pharmaceutical Science, Phytochemistry or Medicinal Chemistry from a recognized University.
In addition the applicant must:

DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
Applicants are invited for Lecturer position in the following courses at the Main Campus:-
- Environmental Education
- Environmental Law and Policy
- Environmental Management and Conservation
- Environmental Economics
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university or have successfully defended PhD thesis.
In addition the applicants must:
- Have presented at least three (3) seminar papers or has two (2) publications in refereed journals or a university level book by a reputable publisher.
- Have full time university teaching experience as tutorial fellow or assistant lecturer for at least three (3) years.
- Applicants must be holders of a Master of Science Degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- In addition applicants must have at least three (3) years teaching experience.
- Those with strong background in Biofertilizers will have an added advantage.
- Successful applicants must be prepared to pursue Ph.D. degree in the area of specialization.
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (GRADE 12)
Applicants must be holders of a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University.
In addition, the applicants must have:-
- At least three (3) years relevant post qualification-working experience in a busy academic Library.
- Experience in Library automation.
- Applicants who have studied or have knowledge of Law and Medical librarianship will have an added advantage.
Applicants must be holders of a Masters degree in Library and Information science from a recognized University.
In addition, the applicants must have:-
- At least five (5) years relevant post qualification-working experience in a busy academic Library, two (2) of which at Managerial level.
- Experience in Library automation.
Terms of service for teaching posts of lecturer and above include membership to a pension scheme, a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance. Other posts will be on performance based two (2) year renewable contract plus a generous medical scheme, housing allowance and commuting allowance.
