VACANCIES IN THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following posts in the Ministry of Tourism.

1. Clerical Officer 11 (Job Group T)

Posts: Nine (9)
Advert No. V/No. 1/2008
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary Scale: 10,717 -12,416 p.m.

Appointment requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must be in possession of:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- or its approved equivalent: and
• Proficiency in computer applications
  

Duties and Responsibilities:

• compiling statistical records;
• sorting, filing and dispatching letters;
• maintaining an efficient filing system;
• processing appointments, promotions, discipline, transfers and other duties in human resource management;
• Computation of financial or statistical records based on routine or special sources of information;
• Preparation of payment vouchers;
• Compiling data and drafting simple letters,
  

2. Driver Grade III (Job Group 'D')

Posts: Three (3)
Advert No: V/No.2/2008
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary Scale: Kshs. 8,819 - 9,721 p.m.

Appointment requirements
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade 'D' plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for classes of vehicles an officer is required to drive;
• Attended a First-Aid certificate course lasting not less than one(1) week at St. John's Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
• Passed suitability Test for Drivers Grade III;
• Passed practical Test for Drivers conducted by the Ministry/Department;
• A valid certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
• At least two (2) years driving experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;
• Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical and brake system, tyre pressure, etc;
• Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
• Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned;
• Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road;
• Safety of the passengers and/or goods therein;
• Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

3. Senior Support Staff/Cleaning Supervisor III (Job Group 'D')

Posts: One(1)
Advert No: V/No.3/2008
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary Scale: Kshs. 8,819-9,721 p.m.

Appointment requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

• Be a holder of Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Division IV or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade 'D' plain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carrying out miscellaneous services which include: delivery of Mail, maintenance of cleanliness of offices and any other duties as may be assigned.
