This position will build the capacity of partners on the integrated management of acute malnutrition at national and local levels. Based in Nairobi and reporting to the Nutrition Coordinator, the Capacity Building Program Manager (PM) will be required to travel frequently to the field (Mandera and Garissa).
S/he will be in charge of coordinating and supervising the activities related to the developing of the capacity of health workers from the Ministry of Health to ensure the adequate management of acute malnutrition in the frame of the National Guidelines on the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition.
The capacity building activities will concentrate on the training on adequate treatment of acute malnutrition through inpatient and community based therapeutic care for severe and moderate cases at National, Provincial and District level.
The incumbent she will also be involved with the relevant partners in all the steps of the strategy.
The specific duties and tasks for this position will include:
- To ensure the national guidelines and field tools are available and updated as necessary
- To ensure that all targeted facilities and MoH staffs are trained on the management of acute malnutrition and that all trained facilities provide nutritional treatment of acceptable quality.
- To ensure regular coordination with, MOH, partners and other ACF departments, within the nutrition program as well as with Food Security and Water and Sanitation Departments.
- To ensure the recruitment, training and supervision of district teams for capacity building
- To report and capitalise on the capacity building program alongside the implementation of the project.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Graduate Degree in Medicine or Degree on Nursing. Significant knowledge in Nutrition.
- At least three year’s experience in similar or related position. Experience in management of acute malnutrition essential as well as working experience in emergency large scale nutritional programs
- Experience in training or capacity building a necessity.
- Excellent reporting and people management skills.
- Excellent written, public communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good team player with enhanced team spirit.
- Ability and willingness to work independently and in difficult conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure and within strict time limits.
- Willing to travel to remote areas at short notice.
- Experience working in multicultural environment.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Reporting to the Capacity Building Program Manager, the Capacity Building Program Assistant supports the implementation of the roll-out of the National Guidelines of the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition in ACF area of activities. The capacity building activities will concentrate on the treatment of acute malnutrition through inpatient and community-therapeutic-care for severe and moderate cases at National,
Specifically, s/he will assist the Capacity Building PM in planning of all the activities, facilitating, reporting, enhancing collaboration with partners and other ACF departments. The incumbent will be expected to share equally her/his time between the capital and the field bases
The specific duties and tasks for this position will include:
- To ensure the National Guidelines and field tools are available and updated as necessary
- To ensure that all targeted facilities and MoH staffs are trained and supervised on the management of acute malnutrition and that all trained facilities provide nutritional treatment of acceptable quality.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Graduate Degree in Nursing or Degree in Food/Nutrition Sciences.
- At least one year experience in humanitarian setting. Experience with ACF strongly desired.
- Experience in management of acute malnutrition essential as well as working experience in emergency large scale nutritional programs
- Experience in training or capacity building a necessity. Good reporting and people management skills.
- Good written, public communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team player, community participation.
- Language: English and local languages a requirement.
- Ability and willingness to work independently and in difficult conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure and within strict time limits.
