VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Law Society of Kenya is a statutory body established under Chapter Eighteen, (Cap 18) of the Laws of Kenya. The Law Society of Kenya is a dynamic 6000 membership professional society with a well organized countrywide network. In line with our management strategy we are seeking to recruit well qualified and highly experienced individual to fill the position of Chief Accountant.Chief Accountant
Candidate's Profile and Qualifications
- Aged over 35 years
- A bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) degree or its equivalent from a recognized University
- Must be a holder of CPA(K)
- Ten to 15 years hands-on experience of similarly independent responsibility
- Planning and coordinating effective accounting controls
- Implementing effective financial management policies, procedures, practices, processes and systems as approved by the Council
- Timely preparation of annual work plans and budgets and guiding their implementation
- Analyze and review budget for adherence to internal financial requirements
- In conjunction with the responsible programme officers , prepare programme budget proposals to prospective donors, analyze and advise on grants
- Ensure timely compliance with all legal and Society procedure requirements
- Develop and implant an existing computerized financial and accounting information systems to track sources and application funds, income and expenditure accounting , costing and budgeting
- Coordinate and monitor the Society's investment of surplus funds, management of the cash flows and operational expenditures and design measures to correct anomalies
- Prepare periodical financial reports, statements, reconciliations, accounting records and advise the CEO and Council of possible solutions and way forward
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and financial and accounting statements on timely basis for submission to external auditors as required by law
- Manage logistical support and office administration
- Control of Society's physical assets
- Coordinate the preparation of tax returns to ensure compliance with Taxation Acts and statutory requirements
- Strong computer application skills, including knowledge and application of Sage Pastel suite
- Strong communication, analytical, negotiation and leadership skills
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Person of high integrity
