One Communications Limited, a subsidiary of Safaricom Limited, is looking to fill the following position:
WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER
REF: NO-WNE-NOV 08
Reporting to the Operations Manager – Backbone / WiMAX, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the One Communications’ Converged IP Network to meet the business requirements. The key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:
Key Responsibilities
Installation of network elements and ensuring good performance
Performing of acceptance testing for network elements, carrying out both preventive and curative maintenance
Responding to and acting on system generated problems and referred system problems
Minimum Requirements
- BSc Degree in Telecommunications/Engineering/Computer Science
- WiMAX and/or RF Certification
- Micro-wave certification or 2 years of field experience
- CCNP/CCIP coupled with a strong background in Routing and Switching
- In depth knowledge of fiber optics transmission systems
- Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux
- Project Management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines with minimum supervision
- Be highly analytical with good problem solving skills
- A team player and a result oriented individual.
- Experience in Telecommunications Operations and Maintenance an added advantage
