Information and Communication Technology Manager-Grade 15
The ICT manager will be responsible for the management and operation of the university’s information and communication technology system and infrastructure, making that they are responsive to the needs of the university.
He/she will also be involved in shaping IT policies and practices geared to the effective utilization and deployment of information systems, resources and operations required to enhance service delivery to all intern and external users.
The candidate will have responsibility for both the information and communication technologies (ICT) and information and Learning Technologies (ILT) that not only underpin the university’s organizational effectiveness but also the learning of students.
The post will holder will be responsible for both the development of ICT resources and the operational management of the ICT infrastructure and staff.
He/she must have a previous relevant management experience combined with high level of IT knowledge and skills and a commitment to improving teaching and learning
The candidate must have first class communications skills, commitment to excellent customer service, be flexible and have a pro-active, approach to his/her work. In addition, he/she should have an eye for detail, be reliable, demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, and have experience of working with individuals and teams.

Desired qualifications and experience
 A masters degree in computer science/ information technology coupled with management training
 A degree in computer science/ Information Technology
 Professional qualifications in networks, servers, IT security
 Have five years experience in ICT management in an organization of similar size and complexity
 Have an appreciation for the following technology areas associated with the position
a) All technology areas which relate to the different ICT technologies are associated with the position
b) Knowledge of computer networks
c) Managing of university’s main ICT Distribution Facility (MDF) at the Nerve Center
d) Monitoring network availability using MRTG System
e) Maintenance and Troubleshooting of CISCO equipments (Routers and switches)
f) Maintenance of Campus Internet Cache, Hierarchy using Open Service Operating System (LINUX)
g) Implementation of Sonic WALL firewall for content filtering and network security
h) Router configuration for WAN communication between the university and ISP
