AGRICULTURAL MANAGER
The successful applicant will be responsible for introducing energy crops especially Sweet Sorghum varieties and production technologies to farmers. He/ she will recruit farmers to adopt and commercially produce the crop to meet company demand for high quality juice.
Specific Duties;
- Determining and anticipating company requirements for sweet sorghum
- Organizing farmers to meet the company demand for the crop
- Developing contractual agreements with farmers
- Preparing budgets for the Agriculture Department
- In conjunction with Field Services Officer authorizing utilization and maintenance of company plant equipment and labor charged on the farmers'account
- Ensuring appropriate and efficient service delivery to farmers
- Assisting in loan recoveries
- Advising the management on the production and marketing strategies for energy crops
- Training and developing staff
- Bsc. Agriculture or its equivalent from a recognized university
- At least 5 years working experience in a senior management position
- Proficiency in the use of computers
- Ability to have good working relationship with the farmers, members of staff, and Research Institutions.
- Good leadership and team building skills required to manage staff, officers and supervisors in the department.
- Good communication skills needed to interact with farmers, staff, directors and the public.
- Decision-making at departmental level especially on community mobilization and production strategies, assessment of credit worthiness of farmers and recovery of credit.
Working with the engineering team, the successful candidates will be involved with preventive and fault finding maintenance, and responsible for medium to low value contracts and projects work.
Specific Duties
- Consulting manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition and other variables in manufacturing and processing.
- Inspecting and testing operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments.
- Repairing and adjusting system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts
- Calibrating components and instruments according to manufacturers'specifications.
- Performing scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports.
- Installing control and measurement instruments on existing and new plant equipment and processes.
- Designing electrical and electronic circuits, components, systems and equipment.
- Diploma in electronics/electrical engineering with a bias on instrumentation/control engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Industrial experience in commissioning, operation and troubleshooting of PLC Hardware and Software.
- At least 3 years working experience
- Ability to read blueprints, read circuit diagrams, consult with and advise process operators.
- Knowledge of Word processing. Spreadsheets Essential
