Our client, Diakonia Sweden, seeks to recruit a Program Manager to provide leadership in the fundraising design, coordination, implementation and administration of its Lake Victoria Livelihood program (LVLP).
The position which will be based in Nairobi reporting to the Regional Manager and is a two year contract with possibility of extension with availability of funding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Providing overall leadership to the LVLP & overseeing the implementation of the program.
- Building and maintaining strong & productive relationships with donors, government agencies, civil society organizations & other development agencies.
- Managing fundraising initiatives for the program.
- Providing support, accompaniment and coordinating capacity building of partners.
- Coordinate thematic areas support (i.e. HIV and AIDS, Social Economic Justice, Human Rights and Gender mainstreaming).
- Overseeing finance & administration of the program including the budgeting process, allocation, disbursement of funds & timely submission of program reports.
- Arranging & facilitating field missions in respect of the LVLP program.
- Arranging & facilitating the monitoring and evaluation of the program.
- Networking with other like-minded organizations for purposes of lobbying & advocacy.
- Must posses a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with proven work experience. Advanced degree in development or sociology or other social sciences will be an added advantage.
- Must possess at least 5 years relevant work experience in development work.
- Must have good & proven financial management, fundraising skills and donor relations
- Must possess strong skills in strategic work, development of programmes and M & E
- Must possess working knowledge on Project Cycle Management and resource management.
- Should have extensive experience in collaboration & networking
- Knowledge of Diakonia's thematic areas such as Democracy, Human Rights, Gender, Social & Economic Justice, and HIV and AIDS.
- Must demonstrate good leadership & managerial skills.
- Must possess strong communication skills & is fluent in both oral and written English.
- Must demonstrate good skills in writing of concept papers, proposal and reports.
- Must have the ability to plan & work with limited supervision.
- Must have developed strong intercultural orientation (ability to relate & work with people of diverse backgrounds) & strong public relations skills.
