We are seeking to fill the post of Training Coordinator (Ref: - CHR/09/03-08) based at AMREF Headquarters.
Based in Nairobi, and reporting to the Technical Specialist-Training, the Training Coordinator will provide managerial and technical expertise in AMREF training programme and specifically coordinate the Diploma in Community Health (DCH) and the Masters in Public Health (MPH) courses.
Specific areas of responsibility will include:
- Acting as the liaison between the Directorate of Capacity Building(AMREF) and Moi University as well as the link between AMREF and its DCH and MPH partners e.g. Moi University
- Ensuring student adherence to the minimum requirements for admission into AMREF/Moi University diploma in community health (DCH) and master’s in public health (MPH)training programme;
- Developing DCH and MPH work plans and budgets;
- Ensuring the relevance, timely and accurate delivery of the DCH and MPH training curricula;
- Teaching DCH and MPH students in Research Methodology, Biostatistics and Epidemiology modules;
- Facilitating the planning and implementation of field work for the DCH and MPH students;
- Providing administration for DCH and MPH examinations
- Identifying training needs and gaps and respond accordingly through appropriate training pathways
- Designing and conducting operations research in the area of training and capacity building;
- Developing fundraising proposals, identify potential sources of funding and implement approved/funded proposals;
- Preparing both technical and management training reports to a variety of audience, including management, donors and partners
- Networking through professional bodies and share experiences and lessons learnt in DCH and MPH
- Marketing the AMREF Post Basic Training programme to prospective clients and donors; and
- Documenting best practices in training in public health.
The ideal applicant should have a Masters degree in public health with specialization in Epidemiology and/or biostatistics; at least 7 years demonstratable experience in designing and conducting research, with proven skills in quantitative and qualitative methods of research. Training skills and work experience in monitoring & evaluation, health systems research, health service management are important aspects of this post in addition to marketing and
consultancy skills.
The incumbent must be creative and innovation in the area of specialization with training skills
and experience in use of SPSS and EPI Info with a record of publications in public health; excellent interpersonal and people management skills are essential.
