Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Job Vacancies

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), a State Corporation under the Ministry of Planning, National Development and Vision 2030 and established under the Statistics Act 2006, seeks to fill the following positions within its establishment.

Job title: Internal Audit Officer - IT Audits
KNBS Scale 5

Ref No: KNBS/IAO/90901
Reports to: Manager, Internal Audit
Departments: Internal Audit

Main purpose of the job: Carry out audits and review management of risks in IT systems.

Roles and responsibilities

  1. Liaise with staff at all levels to design ICT audit programme for approval by audit committee.
  2. Execute annual risk based audits as per the annual work plan and give reports through Manager Internal Audit.
  3. Execute follow up audits to confirm execution of recommendations and action plans and identification of risks and adequate mitigation processes.
  4. Liaise with external agencies and other review bodies on matters relating to ICT audit plan and results of ICT audits.
  5. Review ICT risk management approaches and recommend corrective action for KNBS
  6. Continuously update audit checklists in line with international best practices and emerging trends.
  7. Maintain Audit working files to ensure working papers are complete and that available audit evidence fully supports audit opinions and recommendations.
  8. Prepare timely reports for review by Manager, Internal Audit,
  9. Carry out other duties as required or directed by Manager, Internal Audit.

Main purpose of the job: Carry out Internal audit assignments that will enable internal audit department deliver on the set objectives.

Roles and responsibilities
  1. Carry out risk based audits for projects, head office operations and field operations in line with annual work plan.
  2. Review systems established to ensure safeguard of assets and compliance with policies, plan, procedures, statutory requirements and regulations.
  3. Review finance records to confirm that financial information is accurate and financial transactions are in compliance with established practices, policies and values.
  4. Liaise with funding partners and execute any internal audit assignments within deadlines in conformity with set guidelines.
  5. Advise management, through audit reviews, on effective cost control and revenue maximization measures.
  6. Execute follow up audits to confirm that risks are mitigated.
  7. Continuously update audit checklists in line with international best practices and emerging trends.
  8. Maintain Audit working files to ensure working papers are complete and that available audit evidence fully supports audit opinions and recommendations.
  9. Prepare timely reports for review by Manager, Internal Audit,
  10. Carry out other duties as required or directed by Manager, Internal Audit,
