Chief Executive Officer Job Vacancy: Institute of Directors (Kenya)

The Institute of Directors (Kenya) is an organization formed to provide business leaders with enhanced professional capacity, facilitated director networking and mentorship and to lobby on its members behalf to influence business policy.

The Institute seeks to champion director professionalism and development through good corporate governance. The Institute provides services to add value to the careers and work of professional Directors.

The Job

Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
Reports to: Board of Directors
Job Purpose: To execute the strategy and policy as laid down by the Board of the
Institute.
Duration: One year renewable Contract

Key Responsibilities

To:

  • Implement the Institute's Strategic Plan in line with the Vision and Mission of the Institute.
  • Build/create a culture in line with the brand strategy of the Institute.
  • Lead the Institute and build synergies with other partners in promoting the Vision and Mission of the Institute.
  • Prepare proposals and drive fund raising activities for the Institute, and set budgets to support the delivery of its strategy.
  • Drive membership recruitment and membership services including director training.
  • Create and manage measurable performance criteria for the secretariat.
  • Source for local and international expertise for the training programs and co-ordinate the inter-relationships with other international lOD's.
  • Solicit, prepare and review proposals for presentation to the Board.
  • Attend all the Board and Committee meetings and prepare the annual work programs and budget for approval by the Board and its respective Committees.
  • Overall custodian of the institute in relation to Risk management, Staff supervision, and budget implementation.
Core Competencies
  • A current or former board member of a substantial private or public sector organization.
  • A Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior management position.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • The ability to engage Institute members, senior business leaders and Government on Institute issues.
  • The ability to prepare financial and management reports and project work plans.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the principles of good corporate governance.
