TechnoServe Trainer and Assistant Trainer Positions

TechnoServe, a nonprofit business organization that provides business and market based solutions to poverty in developing countries, seeks qualified candidates for Trainer and Assistant Trainer Positions for the Young Women in Enterprise Program. Based in the low income areas of Mathare, Kawangware and Mukuru, the program aims to economically empower Kenya’s disadvantaged young women through entrepreneurship and employment training.

Trainers

Basic Function

Trainers will mobilize 15-22 year old girls into clubs and train them in entrepreneurship, life skills, financial literacy and employability. They will also assist girls to develop viable business plans and practically test their ideas within their community. Developing strong networks within the community, trainers will oversee the affairs of the club and support school based training.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Higher Diploma in a business related and training field
  • Over 3 years experience in training and group development
  • Between 25 and 35 years of age
  • Strong facilitation skills including design and management of effective trainings, workshops and meetings with diverse participants
  • Experience in group mobilization, development and networking
  • Experience working with youth in low income areas of Nairobi
  • Good understanding of savings and credit
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, fluency in Kiswahili is a must
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Computer Proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet)
Assistant Trainers

Basic Function

The assistant trainers will support trainers to mobilize and develop girls’ enterprise clubs within low income areas of Nairobi. As a liaison between girls clubs and the community they will establish a good relationship with girls’ families and guardians to enhance their support for the program. Assistant trainers will also undertake training activities and support
of school based clubs.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Diploma in a business and training related field
  • Certificate in women, gender and life skill related field
  • Over one years experience in group mobilization, development and networking
  • Between 25 and 35 years of age
  • Strong ability to coordinate prioritize and organize work efficiently
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and maturity
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Computer Proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet)
