Assistant Finance Manager Job Vacancy: Trocaire

Trocaire Horn & East Africa Regional Office (HEARD) seeks to fill the position of an Assistant Finance Manager for its Finance Unit to be based at the Regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.

Trocaire is an Irish Catholic development organization, which works in solidarity with local development actors in over 30 countries throughout the developing world.

Trocaire works through local partners who implement programmes in the organisation's priority areas of Building Sustainable Livelihoods, Mobilising for Justice, Preparing- & Responding to Emergencies, Responding to HIV/AIDS, Promoting Gender Equality and Demanding for Environmental Justice.

The Finance Unit is a unit within Trocaire HEARD, which is responsible for overall management of financial affairs within the region.

The incumbent will report to the Regional Finance & Administration Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for financial management of donor contracts and ensuring that donor requirements, policies and procedures are met across the programme.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial donor reports are prepared and are linked to the narrative reports.
  • Compile the projects financial information and monthly management accounts reports in a comprehensive format for the management team.
  • Responsible for the budgeting process, budget monitoring and providing the management team with reliable information aimed at budget control and cost reduction
  • Provide support on planning, monitoring and oversight of a large annual budget that includes EC, Irish Aid, UNICEF, DF1D contracts and other private donor resources.
  • Carry out the preparation of monthly management reports, ensure budget monitoring, financial reporting, grant management and audits
  • Work with the Regional F&A Manager and other teams to ensure the adherence to quality financial stewardship, internal control and the promotion of good financial management practice
  • Support the partner organisations on financial management and provide feedback on quality financial information to the partners
  • Lead all filing and document management within the finance department and ensure that it is done in a systematic, coherent and transparent way so as to meet the needs of the MIS and donor requirements.
Qualifications and Attributes required
  • Possession of a Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting and a full Accountancy qualification such as CPA-K, ACCA or CIMA with a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Extensive experience in financial management of donor contracts, management accounting, Setting up internal control systems as well as Carrying out audits/reviews of partner organisations. Excellent knowledge of QuickBooks or similar Accounting /Finance Management Software.
  • Strong analytical abilities, communication skills and ability to prepare concise, informative financial reports

The initial contract will be 2 years, with the possibility of renewal coupled with an attractive package.
