Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd is a key player in the tea industry providing Management Services to the smallholder sub-sector for efficient production, processing and marketing of quality teas.

To ensure continued success and growth, we are now seeking dynamic and highly talented professionals to join our management team in the following exciting and challenging positions: -

Research & Development Manager

Position Scope

Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing policy research projects to deliver on overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing automation and new machinery designs to reduce costs and improve productivity.
  • Setting performance objectives in consultation with other departments.
  • Managing financial, technical and human resource to produce research deliverables.
  • Validating new processes and machinery.
  • Liaising with relevant Research Institutions in conducting and documenting scientific research.
  • Establishing new products and recommending product diversification.
Qualifications /Competencies/ Experience

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience and competencies: -
  • A Master's degree in Food Science & Technology from a recognized university.
  • At least five (5) years working experience in tea processing, two (2) of which should be at a senior management level.
  • Demonstration of practical research project experience,
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
  • Strong management and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Development Engineer

Position Scope

Reporting to the Research and Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on new and existing company products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and analyzing appraisal methods for conducting research
  • Carrying out feasibility studies and research on capital project needs.
  • Analyzing economic indicators to identify critical areas of importance.
  • Carrying out research on policies and environmental changes.
  • Drawing up implications of research findings on company operations
  • Preparing policy briefs to key stakeholders
  • Developing a strategy on energy efficiency and alternative sources of energy.
Qualifications /Competencies/ Experience

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience and competencies:-
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Processing Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management.
  • At least five (5) years working experience in project management, two (2) of which should be at a senior management level.
  • Experience in Practical Research Projects.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
